Responsibilities
- Adheres to established Hospital/departmental policies, procedures, objectives, Quality Assessment and Improvement Program, legal, safety, environmental, infection control standards and Patient's Bill of Rights.
- Identifies and prepares appropriate instrumentation, supplies and equipment based on identified obstetrical procedures.
- Maintains and monitors aseptic technique.
- Assists the obstetrical team during delivery procedures as appropriate.
- Maintains and cares for equipment and supplies. Documents maintenance and repairs.
- Provides comfort and support for obstetrical patients. Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's care and privacy.
- Demonstrates an understanding of organizational structure and utilizes appropriate channels of communication.
- Demonstrates a cooperative manner when dealing with all members of the health care team.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the approaches to and methods of Continuous Quality Improvement.
- Serve as a preceptor and role model to new Obstetrical Technicians and students.
- May perform duties of the Unit Secretary or Nursing Assistant.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience as an Obstetrical Technician in an acute care environment required.
- Must have successful completion of an accredited/approved program.
- Current AHA BLS card required.
- Must maintain current Fire Safety cards.
This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement.
Pay Range
$29.42 - $36.78 /hour
