This position assists in digitizing and providing access to unique collections in Pacific University's Archives, Art and Museum collections. This non-work study (NWS) student position reports to the Pacific University Archivist, and is open only to current Pacific University students. Job duties include:
- Learn and follow the policies and procedures of the Pacific University Archives
- Scan, research and write descriptions of archival, art and museum material following established guidelines
- Write basic collection inventories using specialized archival management software
- Perform basic editing of digital files in Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat Pro and other software
- Assist with shelving and rehousing archival, art and museum collections
- Assist patrons in the use of materials and equipment
- Assist in creating digital exhibits and physical displays of archival, art and museum material
Required: Good writing skills; Interest in History, Art History or other relevant field; Basic computer skills; Ability to follow directions as well as work independently; Dependable; Attention to detail; Good customer service skills;
Desired: Experience using spreadsheet software such as Excel or Google Sheets; experience using scanners and image editing software such as Photoshop; Experience with digital projects; Prior archival or library experience helpful but not required.
