Job Summary
The Nutrition Program Meal Access Intern will expand, market and monitor Nutrition Sites for the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) in or near the Twin Cities Metropolitan area. People working in this position will be mostly performing in-person monitoring visits and meetings with the option of some virtual meetings. This position will provide regular oversight for food delivery and meal distribution to multiple sites in compliance with regulations of the USDA, Summer Food Service Program, and the State of Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). The Meal Access Intern will learn multiple levels of community nutrition and food access challenges that affect local Minnesota communities and their youth. Interns will also regularly work with local vendors and community partners to administer summer meals, helping the team brainstorm and adjust working in the child nutrition and hunger realm.

Job Duration and Schedule
This is a part-time, temporary role averaging 15 working hours per week after training. Training will occur in May, followed by working June through August. We offer flexible scheduling during normal business hours, with some early evening hours required for site training and monitoring visits. Most work is done in person with some virtual meetings.
Compensation
This is a non-exempt (hourly) role with a pay range of $16.00 - $18.00 per hour, depending on qualifications.
Education, Experience & Skills
- A high school diploma or GED is required. Those graduating this year in May or early June also qualify.
- Special interest in candidates pursuing an undergraduate degree in Nutrition, Management, Health, Public Health, or related Community Service majors.
- One - three years of life experience or professional experience in youth development, family services, nutrition, food services, or related work.
- Some knowledge of federal and state food program requirements is preferred.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products and/or database management.
- Passion and demonstrated ability to work with diverse cultural communities successfully.
