Responsibilities of the Nursing Instructor:

  • Training students to become nurses
  • Instruct and guide students in the clinical learning environment, as designated by the Valley College curriculum.
  • Demonstrate procedures/processes and operate appropriate equipment as designated by the curriculum.
  • Grade and evaluate students' work in a timely manner and provide constructive feedback.
  • Assist and tutor students with areas of the curriculum with which they are having difficulty.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date progress reports on students’ work.
  • Compile reports/updates on students as required.
  • Provide telephone and/or email follow-up with students as requested.
  • Maintain a cooperative and professional learning environment.
  • Course Development
  • Conduct ongoing evaluation of course material.
  • Participate in the selection of books and material.
  • Maintain current tests, assignments and course syllabi.
  • Attend scheduled faculty meetings and in-service workshops.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Nursing faculty members must hold the following:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree with a major in nursing and be enrolled in a graduate degree program with a major in nursing within one year of employment as a faculty member; or have a bachelor’s degree with a major in nursing and at least 10 years of direct patient care experience in nursing. Master's Degree and education experience preferred.
  • Current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse in West Virginia
  • Ongoing Professional Development
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate students

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
