THE COLLEGE Located in the northwest corner of the United States, Peninsula College is nestled in the foothills of the Olympic Mountains. The main campus in Port Angeles, Washington, overlooks the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the nearby city of Victoria, British Columbia, and has easy access to the Pacific Ocean, Olympic National Park, and Seattle. Port Angeles is two hours from Seattle and a one-hour ferry ride to Victoria, Canada.

The College is honored to serve six sovereign American Indian nations in the region: Jamestown S'Klallam, Lower Elwha Klallam, Quileute, Makah, Hoh, and Port Gamble S'Klallam. The College is honored to have strong relationships with these six federally recognized Tribes in the College's service district. The College is home to Longhouse of Learning.

It is the first Longhouse in the nation to be built on a community College campus. The College offers transferable Indigenous language courses in Klallam/S'Klallam, Makah and Quileute and Hoh languages. Instructional programs include a Tribal Homeland Security & Emergency Management certificate and an Integrated Indigenous Studies transfer pathway.

THE POSITION Peninsula College is recruiting for a Part Time Nursing Assistant Certified {NAC) Instructor to teach NAC classes at the Port Townsend campus. Essential Functions Teach NURSING ASSISTANT classes in classroom, lab and clinical settings. Gather, organize, and/or create course materials that facilitate learning.

Develop curriculum, provide course materials, evaluate student work, and assign grades. Incorporate current instructional technologies and interactive learning technologies in course delivery. Teach assigned courses in accordance with course descriptions and learning outcomes outlined in the syllabi.

Utilize appropriate technology to facilitate teaching and learning. Provide learning opportunities in an atmosphere that promotes learning and student success. Through the course syllabus, orient students at the beginning of each course to the objectives of the course, learning outcomes, assessment methods, basis of grading, attendance requirements, the nature of assignments and class requirements.

Conference with students to promote student success. Provide clinical instruction in various settings, to include days, weekends or evening shifts. Duties of the position require knowledge, skills and abilities Experience working with computers and technology to deliver or support instruction.

Proven strong communication skills, written and oral. Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings.

The characteristics of team player, autonomy, timeliness in task performance, initiative, and a desire to learn. Duties of the position require previous experience A minimum of 3 years experience working as a nurse. A minimum of one-year experience, within the past 3 years, caring for the elderly or chronically ill.

CPR/First Aid certificate. Tuberculosis (TB) test within the last six (6) months. Experience teaching adults preferred.

Experience supervising NURSING ASSISTANTs preferred. Required physical abilities Work is typically performed in a classroom or clinical settings. Physical requirements include the ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods of time and demonstrate nursing skills in classroom and clinical settings.

Must be able to lift 25 pounds. Required work schedule and work environment Student instruction is held primarily in classroom environment, clinical lab, and at a site in a community care facility. Evening NAC class and clinicals offered 6 weeks per quarter.

Classroom, lab, clinical, and office settings. Required education or certificates Registered Nurse (RN) with a Washington State license in good standing. Employment Terms: Part-time position.

Salary will be based on the part-time faculty salary schedule. Start Date: Fall 2023 (will pay curriculum development stipend to start planning in August). Typical salary for a 5-credit class is $4,337.90 per quarter.
