Primary Purpose:
Responsible for program planning; working effectively with staff, families, and children; mentoring children and staff; and completing all administrative responsibilities assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
College degree in Child Development preferred
Qualify as an operation or program director including education and experience as dictated by Department of Family and Protective Services
Have or obtain immediately upon employment (and regularly renew) the state required training hours and CPR certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to develop age and ability appropriate lesson plans for children
Knowledge of child nutrition for each age group
Ability to supervise, lead, and motivate a team
Effective communicate skills
Experience:
Two years as a certified/licensed childcare provider (preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Ensure facility remains in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
2. Provide leadership to nursery staff.
3. Assist with budget projects and forecasting.
4. Supervise and monitor children.
5. Organize meal and/or snack times.
6. Help children keep good hygiene.
7. Organize activities in a manner to enhance children's learning.
8. Develop schedules and routines.

9. Bring concerns to the attention of parents.
10. Keep appropriate and necessary records.
11. Work as a team with other nursery employees.
12. Follow all licensing and state laws.
13. Complete all required federal, state, local, and departmental reports.
14. Ensure paperwork and reports are completed correctly and in its entirety, filed appropriately, and readily available for inspections.
Safety
15. Identify and remove any and all small objects that might be harmful to the children.
16. Supervise all aspects of activity of all children and adults in the facility.
17. Never leave children unattended.
18. Maintain knowledge of the location of first aid kits, fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and water at all times.
19. Must be able to stand, walk, and monitor children 100% of the time.

20. Abide by all district and department rules and policies.
21. Work irregular hours as needed based on the needs of the department.

Evaluation:
The Nursery Supervisor's evaluation is a responsibility resting with the assigned supervisor. An evaluation shall be completed in writing at least once during the course of the fiscal year.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including desk top-computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent, repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) office supplies and toys
Environment: Work is performed in a classroom setting as well as playground; may require occasional irregular and prolonged hours
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress
