Job Summary:
We are seeking a nurturing and dedicated Nursery Assistant to join our team. As a Nursery Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing quality care and education to young children. Your responsibilities will include assisting the lead teacher in implementing age-appropriate activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of the children, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment.
Duties:
- Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing engaging activities that promote the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of children
- Provide individualized attention and support to children with special needs or behavioral challenges
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by closely supervising children at all times
- Assist with diapering, feeding, and toileting routines as needed
- Foster positive relationships with parents/guardians through effective communication and regular updates on their child's progress
- Collaborate with the lead teacher and other staff members to create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment
- Follow established policies and procedures to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of classroom materials, equipment, and play areas
Skills:
- Previous experience in childcare, special education, or caregiving is preferred
- Knowledge of child development principles and practices
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom of young children
- Strong communication skills to interact with children, parents/guardians, and colleagues
- Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with children of different ages and abilities
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle challenging behaviors with calmness and professionalism
- Basic understanding of early childhood education concepts such as literacy, numeracy, and sensory play
