PositionOverview:The Student Nurse Technician provides fundamentals of nursing care (i.e. personal and restorative care) to paitents according to predefined guidelines, a plan of care established by a Registered Nurse, and under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse staff.
Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.

Certifications:Must complete BCLS certification by the end of position orientation. Must maintain current BCLS certification.

Physical Demands:
Stands, turns,bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses many physical motions in performingday-to-day activities. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time anddo a great deal of walking without experiencing undue fatigue. May be exposedto communicable disease or radiation. Work involvesusing many physical motions in performing daily work activities; subject toexposure of body fluids, sputum and tissues, which may carry the hazard ofinfectious disease.Work involvesusing repetitive motions: substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and orfingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard.
Work involvesbeing able to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels with orwithout correction; the ability to make fine discriminations in sound. Workrequires close visual and acuity and the ability to adjust the eye to bringan object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitorto forms/printed material that are closer to compare data at close vision.
Must be able to beactive for extended periods without experiencing undue fatigue.Must be able to work schedules assignedwith the understanding that changes may occur according to the needs of thehospital for off days, shifts or weekends.
Mental Demands:
Must demonstrate keen mentalfaculties/assessment and decision making abilities.Must demonstrate superiorcommunication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information inperson and by telephone.Mustdemonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.Must possess emotional stability conduciveto dealing with high stress levels.Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and the abilityto multi-task in complex situations is required.Must have the ability to maintaincollaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and otherorganizations
Special Demands:
Must possess superior customerservice skills and professional etiquette. Must possess proficient knowledgeand ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other officetechnology (i.e., telephone, faxt, etc.). Must have intermediate knowledge ofMS Outlook and Word.
This positon is a part-time positionand requires the infividual to be scheduled and available to work at least24-hours per month (4-week schedule), to include 12-hours on the weekend(Fri, Sat, Sun). The Student Nurse Technician must be willing to work on anyother unit with similar skill set requirements for which Student NurseTechnician has competency. The Student Nurse Technician will work at leasttwo (2) holiday shifts annually.
