POSITION TITLE: NURSE TEAM LEADER REPORTS TO: SUPERVISOR OF HEALTH SERVICES
OVER-TIME STATUS: EXEMPT PAY GRADE: E370
JOB SUMMARY:
Assist in the facilitation, coordination, and implementation of the ongoing functioning of the health services program for regular and special education students. Reports to Supervisor of Health Services, and Building Principal when on site in schools
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Major resource for newly hired school nurses, assisting with orientation and mentoring
- Assist with grade level screenings, and documentation. Student health assessments and care
- Assist with data entry for the nurses.
- Assist with data entry of Special Education/IEP screening results
- Complete an On-Site Observation Checklist annually at each school, and provide this information to the supervisor
- Assists with medication audit in all clinics three times a school year
- Substitute in schools as needed
- Assist Supervisor of Health Services with various projects and assignments as needed
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to use all clinic/medical equipment; ability to lift students as required; knowledge of basic pharmacology; able to assess emergency situations; knowledge and use of universal precautions; good oral and written communication skills; proficient computer skills; travel to all Portsmouth Public School sites .
This position requires regular walking, sitting, climbing, bending, squatting, kneeling, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, and repetitive hand movements. This position often requires employee to drive. Light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred. Five or more years of current experience in nursing: current CPR credentials. Licensed R.N. by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
