Responsibilities of the Nurse Practitioner:
- Develop and implement treatment plans that are appropriate for each patient’s condition or illness.
- Conduct physical examinations and tests to diagnose conditions, infections, disease processes, etc.
- Provide advice to patients about health maintenance, hygiene practices, diet modification, medication use, etc.
- Perform diagnostic tests, such as wound culture, urinalysis, and blood tests.
- Treat minor wounds, cuts, and other injuries using sterile techniques to prevent infection.
- Provide educational services to patients regarding their illness or injury.
- Order diagnostic tests, such as X-rays or laboratory tests, to help determine the cause of an injury or illness.
- Communicate with other healthcare team members to discuss patient care plans.
- Provide counseling services to patients with behavioral health problems.
