Position Summary
As the Nurse Practitioner (PRN), you will provide all duties of nursing services. It is required to follow Nursing policy and procedures regarding detoxification and other Nursing Services. It is also required to carry out physical’s orders and protocols as directed. In this role, we participate in Performance Improvement and Infection Control activities as indicated.

This position is responsible for helping to coordinate and deliver quality medical care in partnership with therapists and medical providers.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform history and physicals on new patients admitted to the facility
- Document weekly visits with patients for medical progress review
- Write orders for laboratory work and medication under the direct supervision of the physician
- Take screening call with direct backup by the supervising physician
- Participate in clinical staffing of patients
- Advise patients on medication side effects and proper usage
- Document First Dose dispensation and medication reconciliation with patients
- In a life-threatening emergency situation, when the supervising physician is not present, the Nurse Practitioner may initiate appropriate evaluation and treatment
- Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness to perform the job in a safe manner
- Must be able to work in a cooperative manner with co-workers, managers, clients and prospective clients
- Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance, must appear impaired or disoriented, but rather must present coherent and articulate speech, kept appearance, alert, oriented, and responsive to patients’ needs and concerns

Required Skills/Abilities:
- One year of experience in chemical dependency treatment preferred
- Experience with adults and adolescents preferred
- Must have good interpersonal and communications skills
- Must have legible handwriting
- Continuing education as required for state licensure/certification as recommended by state or national professional association
- Must be flexible with schedule
- Proof of current malpractice insurance coverage with up to $1 million per occurrence
- Know and abide by the general provisions of 42 CFR Part 2, “Confidentiality of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Patient Records”, and 45 CFR “Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act”. This position has unrestricted access to patient identifying and patient health information
Education:
- Nurse Practitioner Certification from an accredited college/university
- Current Registered Nurse State license required
- CPR certified
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand continuously in increments of 45 minutes to 1 hour
- Must be able to physically assist a disoriented or intoxicated patient of average weight of 140-170 lbs. from the floor to a chair or bed
- Must be able to see 20/40 corrected in each eye and hear (hearing aid acceptable)
- Must be capable of administering First Aid and CPR
- Walk within the facility approximately 1 mile per 8-hour shift
- Must be emotionally and physically capable of functioning under stressful situation
