Texas Oncology is looking for a Senior Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our team! This position will support the Beaumont, Texas location . Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country and has approximately 600+ providers in 220+ sites across Texas and southeastern Oklahoma. What does the Nurse Practitioner do?

Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnosis. This care may be in clinic or virtually, via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. May serve as direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities:
The essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Assesses, plans, implements,and evaluates care for patients.
  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family responseandprescribes therapiesas indicated.
  • Performs proceduresafter appropriate training.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
  • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Incorporatesthedevelopingknowledge ofevidence-based research into clinical practice.
  • Developingknowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Completes patient chargecaptureandmedical record documentationin a timely fashion.
  • May provide case management forpatientsand their families, given limited knowledge of community resources.
  • May promote/provide staff education
  • Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitalsand weekend or after-hour calls.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience:

  • Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program OR Physician Assistant Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. OR Clinical Nurse Specialist Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program.
  • This position requires a minimum of 6 years of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner, preferably in the chosen specialty.
  • RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
  • Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. AOCNP preferred.
  • OR Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state.
  • OR Current state licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. AOCN preferred (if applicable).
  • Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification.
  • Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Work will involve in-person interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients. Work may require minimal travel by automobile to office sites.
