**BONUS OPPORTUNITY ELIGIBLE**

The Nurse Practitioner will provide psychiatric services including medication evaluations and medication management to children/youth who are admitted to the Crisis Stabilization Unit. Work closely with the staff nurses on the CSU, identify potential physical problems impacting the mental health of children/youth in the Unit, and order and monitor appropriate laboratory tests. Consult and collaborate with families, outside providers, PCPs, and other healthcare providers in the overall health management of admitted children/youth. Position is 5 days per week, with approximately a 50-50 hybrid of remote and on-site work.

New Vistas’ mission is to use an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, residential counselors, medical staff and admissions specialists to provide brief, 3-5 day, crisis stabilization treatment for children and youth with behavioral health issues, including depression, suicidal thoughts, other trauma reactions, and family issues. Our team coordinates treatment and provides tools and safety planning for children/youth and families so that they can safely return to their homes and the community. We are committed to serving Colorado’s children/youth while maintaining a non-judgmental and inclusive approach.


Essential Duties:

  • Provides diagnostic/medication evaluations, and f/u medication management. Provide admitted children/youth and families with all necessary medication education and psychoeducation.
  • Consults with Nurses in addressing medication problems, including side effect concerns. Responds promptly to nurse’s questions or requests.
  • Orders and monitors appropriate laboratory tests at clinically indicated frequency.
  • Provides crisis support for clinical emergencies at clinical site.
  • Attends mandatory training and complies with individualized training plans if required.
  • Reports high risk/problem cases and solicits consultation and help as needed. Attends supervision at times and intervals agreed upon with supervisor and incorporates supervision into clinical practice and job performance.
  • Documents medication evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in Electronic Health Record within 24 hours of service.
  • Engages children/youth and their families in the treatment process and goal-setting.
  • Identifies/provides appropriate intervention for risk factors including lethality.
  • Coordinates care with internal and external providers.
  • Maintains appropriate professional boundaries and standards,
  • Exhibits professionalism, enthusiasm, courtesy, adaptability, flexibility, and spirit of cooperation in the work environment.
  • Maintains effective interpersonal relations with children/youth, their families, peers, other members of the treatment team, management, visitors and the general public.
  • Effectively responds to child/youth and their families’ needs and problems, initiates and maintains positive interactions, and provides timely response to phone calls, texts, email, and other requests.
  • Works cooperatively with other community agencies. As appropriate and as agreed with supervisor, participates in committees, task forces, etc. of the Center or the community.
  • Have an understanding of how trauma impacts the lives of the people being served, so that every interaction is consistent with the recovery process and reduces the possibility of re-traumatization.
  • There may be other, site or program specific responsibilities that are assigned by the Medical Director and/or the Program Manager.
  • Acquires and maintains certification in Nonviolent Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training (CPI)

Qualifications:

  • RN degree (or equivalent), Masters Degree in Nursing, PMHNP-BC certification, Prescriptive Authority licensure by the Colorado Board of Nursing, and DEA certificate.
  • Interest and experience working with children, youth and families.
  • Knowledgeable and current with regard to psychopharmacology, medical/psychiatric interface, and evidence-based neuropsychiatric/neurobehavioral diagnosis and treatment.
  • Provide leadership to/collaboration with multidisciplinary mental health treatment team in the delivery of comprehensive and integrated clinically appropriate interventions.
  • Basic computer skills such as e-mail, interface with/documentation in electronic medical record and electronic orders and prescription writing are required.

Salary: $132,512.59 ($63.707/HR)

  • Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE

Bonus*

$2,000 One Month Anniversary
$1,500 First year anniversary of employment

Additional Bonus Information*:

  • Based on full time (40 hours/week). Prorate if less than 40 hours/week*
  • Must work a minimum of 20 hours/week to be eligible for bonus*
  • Current Jefferson Center employees not eligible for sign on bonus*
