Summary

Assists with the overall administration of SRP Employee Health Services to preserve and improve the health and safety of employees in the workplace. Major emphasis is placed on the independent nursing practice; the identification and management of health problems; and preventive and promotional health care.

 

This position is 100% onsite, the Hybrid work schedule is not available for this role.

What You'll Do
  • Work effectively and independently of Medical Director (Physician), to provide primary health care by identifying Occupational Health problems, triaging acute medical problems, and/or referring employees for specialized care.
  • Performs and evaluates pre-placement exams, medical respirator certifications, medical surveillance exams, fitness-for-work evaluations, tests for substance abuse, and blood draws for laboratory analysis.
  • Conducts, analyzes, interprets and consults with the SRP Medical Director on results of medical tests (PFT, audiograms, laboratory reports) and technical reports.
  • Assists management and employees in identifying and controlling workplace hazards and preventing accidents, injuries, and illnesses.
  • Maintains an accurate and confidential system of OSHA records, medical records and other legally required documents.
  • Designs and implements programs to deal with identified health problems and hazards. Evaluates and monitors outcomes.
  • Plans, develops and manages employee safety and health education programs to facilitate behavioral changes.
  • Provides crisis intervention.
  • Maintains clinical competence in all areas of nursing practice and occupational/environmental health.
  • Establishes and maintains liaison with other health specialists and community agencies.
What It Takes To Succeed
  • Current Arizona License as a professional registered nurse. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) Certification is preferred 
  • CAOHC Certification is preferred 
  • NIOSH-approved training course on pulmonary function testing to perform, interpret, counsel employees and assess lung function for respirator wear is preferred. 
  • The OHN has legal and professional responsibilities for maintaining written documentation, or records, of all activities related to the EHS clinic. This position must also maintain confidentiality of privileged communication, which refers to all nursing or medical information that is not general knowledge, which is acquired in the course of duties or by reason of professional relationships with employees. Disclosure of confidential employee records and information is at the discretion and judgment of the OHN, who must assure that such disclosure meets imposed ethical and legal standards, as well as SRP policies.
Experience
  • Five years experience as a registered nurse (RN), with a minimum of two years as RN in Occupational Health, public health, employee health, pre-hospital care, emergency or critical care. 

Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years experience at Level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three years experience at Level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

 

Education

  • Completion of an Associate's Degree in Nursing. 

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona. We are taking steps to protect the health and well-being of all team members, and by following a number of health and safety protocols, to reduce the risk of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
