Job Summary The Nurse Manager is responsible for the daily twenty-four (24) hour planning, organizing, directing and controlling of the daily operations and clinical practice of assigned Patient Care areas, to provide quality, individualized Patient Care and support of Medical Center philosophies. The Nurse Manager will lead staff to model a professional practice environment by: providing a clinically competent staff; encouraging strong interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication; supporting autonomy and accountability; providing staff opportunities for in-service and formal education; stressing the importance of continuous learning; and supporting a culture where concern for the patient is paramount. The Nurse Manager assumes fiscal responsibility through preparation of unit budgets, unit-based governance, supports research, evidence-based practice, participates in both long and short term strategic planning and assures patient advocacy. The Nurse Manger works to create and maintain standard work in the department to facilitate communication and workflow efficiency for the department. The Nurse Manager is accountable to the ACNO & Executive Director Patient Care Services.

Minimum Qualifications
- A valid California Registered Nurse License
- Minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing. In addition, Master's degree required in nursing or other related field
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing management experience required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned area
- Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice
- Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of health care technology within specialty area
- Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues.
- Full command (verbal and written) of the English language.

- Certification of field of practice preferred
Department Description
Patient Care Resources provides 24/7 RN and HUSC Float Pool coverage to a variety of inpatient areas within the Patient Care Services division. The department has over 200 employees, both per diem and career. In addition, the department also has several programs that provide support to the inpatient units: Float Pool, Per Diem Pool, STAN Program, Action Team, Rapid Response Team, SOS Nurses, and Children's Hospital Seasonal Float Team, and Development Programs in the Pediatric Specialty and Adult Critical Care Specialty areas, as well as the Acute Care - Float Pool Residency Program.
