Nurse Manager Emergency Services - Days
SUMMARY:
- The ER Nurse Manager assumes 24-hour accountability for the coordination of resources to ensure quality service to all customers, reflecting the mission, vision, and philosophy for the hospital and the Department of Nursing. Works under the direct supervision and direction of the Director of Patient Care Services-ER and Observation.
- The ER Nurse Manager has oversight of the Emergency Room and staff, including an assistant Nurse Manager, charge nurses, RNs, LPNs, Techs, and administrative staff. The assistant Nurse Manager supports the Nurse Manager in staff oversight, staff evaluations, disciplinary actions, scheduling, etc.
- The position is day shift Monday through Friday, with 24/7 accountability for the unit.
UNIT SUMMARY:
- The Emergency Department has 49 beds and currently sees approximately 60,000 visits per year or 165 per day. The Emergency Department treats major and minor illnesses, typically related to cardiac, stroke and behavioral health.
- Additionally, staff may provide care for orthopedic injuries or minor trauma. The rapid care area is designated for minor illnesses. Staff members are outgoing and positive and must utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status and be able to effectively implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors of Nursing required; master's preferred
- 5+ years of recent Emergency Services experience
- Current and unrestricted Maryland or Compact State Registered Nurse License (RN)
- American Heart Association CPR Certification (BLS) cert
- Credentialed in area of expertise preferred (CEN preferred)
