SPA assists the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in developing leading edge technologies to counter WMD in support of CCMDs and transitioning these technologies to military services and COCOMs. SPA provides expertise across the full range of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosives (CBRNE) WMD, Counter Improvised Threat and Countering Threat Network technologies to support understanding, detection, identification, characterization, denial, control, disabling, defeating, disposing, safeguarding the force, managing consequences, and test and evaluation in support of military and civilian operations.
SPA has a near term need for a Nuclear Weapons Instructor/SME.
Duties include:
- Serving as the NWIM Curator
- Providing routine maintenance, restoration, corrosion control, and inventory management for all historical items/properties
- Identifying and providing recommendations on new exhibits and materials for incorporation into the NWIM
- Providing NE-DS instructors and staff training on NWIM policy and procedures
- Guiding and coordinating tours of the NWIM at the Secret//Restricted Data (S//RD) and Secret//Critical Nuclear Weapons Design Information (S//CNWDI) level
- Effectively communicating to senior leadership through briefings, presentations, written/verbal correspondence, and other means as necessary, that can be understood at multiple levels
- Planning and conducting coordination with Installation Host and Tenet units on utilization of various areas used for field training
As needed, transports students and visitors, and/or moves equipment in preparation for training courses the instructional staff is presenting.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years experience and a MA/MS; or 15+ years experience and a BA/BS.
- In-depth knowledge and thorough understanding of nuclear policy, Nuclear Weapons and related nuclear expertise.
- Requires demonstrated knowledge & experience in management expertise for utilization of training areas to include field training sites and the Nuclear Weapons Instructional Museum (NWIM).
- Knowledge in museum curation and Nuclear Weapons design history.
- Experience in course development and instruction, planning, developing, evaluating, revising, and conducting courses, and advising other instructors on Nuclear Weapons Instructional matters.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
- Current TS/SCI Eligibility and the ability to maintain throughout time of employment.
