Duties:
- Prepare and cook food items according to recipes and quality standards
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations
- Assist with menu planning and recipe development
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient meal preparation
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Monitor food supplies and notify management of any shortages or discrepancies
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a line cook or in a similar role
- Knowledge of food safety practices and procedures
- Ability to handle knives and other kitchen tools safely and effectively
- Strong understanding of food handling techniques
- Familiarity with catering and menu planning concepts
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
Skills:
- Food safety: Knowledge of proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices to ensure the safety of customers and staff.
- Dietary aide: Experience in assisting with meal preparation, portioning, and serving in a dietary department.
- Knife skills: Proficiency in using different types of knives for chopping, slicing, dicing, and other food preparation tasks.
- Food handling: Ability to safely handle raw ingredients, follow proper cooking temperatures, and prevent cross-contamination.
- Catering: Understanding of catering concepts, including portion control, buffet setup, and presentation.
- Menu planning: Experience in creating menus that meet dietary requirements, customer preferences, and budget constraints.
- Dietary department: Familiarity with the operations of a dietary department in a healthcare or hospitality setting.
- Meal preparation: Ability to efficiently prepare meals according to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
- Cooking: Proficiency in various cooking techniques such as grilling, sautéing, baking, frying, etc.
- Food preparation: Skill in preparing ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, measuring, etc.
