CALSTART is #Hiring a Northeast Electric Fleet Lead to manage projects and provide direct technical assistance for fleet electrification. The selected candidate will provide technical and outreach support for CALSTART's fleet advisory services for business in Massachusetts, provide outreach to support the NY Truck Voucher Incentive Program (NYTVIP), and contribute significantly to these programs that impact the Northeast communities. The Project Manager will lead all aspects of associated deliverables. The person will oversee industry engagement and collaboration with our multiple partners, including cultivation of new business opportunities related to fleet-focused stakeholders and/or technical assistance work. This position will be a part of CALSTART's Northeast Regional office but can work remotely from this office as a location in New England is preferable.

CALSTART's Northeast Regional Office team works to integrate cleaner, more efficient vehicle technologies into public and private fleets through design and implementation of incentive programs for clean cars, trucks, and charging infrastructure, technical study of clean freight corridor potential, and thoughtful policy engagement with CALSTART's growing list of industry member to effectuate sound adoption conditions for clean mobility technologies and practices throughout the region.

Additionally, the Lead Project Manager will:

  • Supplement Northeast team capacity on New York Truck Voucher Incentive Program and fleet advisory services projects in Massachusetts
  • Embed equity and broad representation in program design, team operations, implementation, partner development, outreach, and support 
  • Strategically and collaboratively manage and negotiate across departments, teams, and state agencies (e.g., NYSERDA, Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, etc.) 
  • Conduct integrated project management including executive decision making, task delegation, budgeting, compliance, and quarterly reporting 
  • Resolve challenging legal and contractual matters through collaboration 
  • Secure new business for the Northeast in collaboration with Northeast Regional Director and other CALSTART staff, including developing and maintaining a future funding pipeline

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in, sustainability, engineering, urban planning, or other related fields 
  • 5+ years of experience working with utility or transportation industry supporting the adoption of clean transportation technologies 
  • 2+ years of project management experience  
  • Prior experience conducting electrification analysis for Medium and Heavy-Duty Vehicle (MHDV) fleets 
  • Prior experience facilitating fleet electrification through multi-stakeholder coordination including electric utilities 
  • Experience with grassroots community engagement for transportation, mobility, affordable housing, social and/or environmental justice 
  • Experience working cross-functionally across different departments, stakeholders and/or agencies to achieve shared goals 
  • Demonstrate a passion and commitment for social justice, environmental justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion 
  • Ability to manage and lead a team 
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills 
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills and comfortable with complexity 
  • Strong ability to meet or exceed deadlines and able to work with minimal supervision or direction 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience conducting community needs assessments and managing multiple multiyear projects 
  • Certificate in project management 
  • Knowledge and experience working on challenging legal and contractual matters 
  • Familiarity with state government agencies, such as MassCEC, NYSERDA, NYSDEC, MassDOT, CTDOT, NJDEP, and others 
  • Advanced degree or certifications in related fields

CALSTART includes the complete salary range amount (minimum to maximum) the job level of the job announced. We determine pay based on education, experience, internal equity, and any other factors relevant to the job. Pay for this role will typically be from $85,000.00 to $91,000.00.
