Job description

The Northampton Public Schools seeks a dynamic, innovative and experienced High School Principal who is a visionary and action-oriented leader to begin July 2024. Our future principal embraces the districts core educational values and will create a vision for our HIGH SCHOOL aligned with the Districts strategic plan. The right candidate will be committed to issues of diversity and equity, have a high degree of autonomy and trust within the school, can manage, supervise and work alongside staff, and will collaborate with educators, students, administrators and community members to cultivate lifelong learning in all of our students ensuring success for college and career readiness. In addition to demonstrating the administrative competencies and ensuring compliance with standards developed at the local, state, and federal levels, the principal must uphold the following district core values.Building Communities The principal is a community-builder who fosters student engagement and agency by encouraging the use of student-centered learning experiences.
The principal will work with faculty, staff, students, and families to: Build home-to-school connections.Actively cultivate respectful, supportive relationships among students, teachers, and caregivers.Promote active learning experiences.Open and transparent lines of communication.Enable Students to Reach Their PotentialThe principal is a reflective leader who brings out the best in teachers and students by adjusting systems of support to help all students achieve at high levels. The principal will create a collaborative learning environment in order to: Maximize the effectiveness of a tiered system of supports.Support effective inclusive learning environments for students at all abilities. Foster a growth mindset among students, teachers, and caregivers.Nurture Kindness, Empathy, and ToleranceThe principal is a compassionate leader with a sincere commitment to social justice. The principal will: Promote positive techniques to promote prosocial student behavior.
Help all school community members to understand and appreciate the perspectives of others.Model and lead anti-bias and anti-bullying education at the school level.Leadership practices are anticipated to be inclusive, creative, engage all students, and support differentiated instruction.Northampton High School serves approximately 900 students in grades 9 through 12. More than 100 faculty and staff strive to create a caring atmosphere, promote high expectations and lay the foundation for lifelong learning.Minimum Qualifications: Current MA DESE Certification as a 5-12 / 9-12 secondary principal.Masters degreeExperience as an administratorPreferred Qualifications: Demonstrated effectiveness building systems to support: oCurriculumoAssessmentoInstructionoCollaborationoFinancial StabilityDemonstrated success meeting the needs of diverse learners Ability to provide culturally competent communication Prior experience as a HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL or associate principal Multilingual candidates are encouraged to applyAbility to infuse multicultural competencies into instructional practices and curriculum Salary Range: $110,000 to $130,000 Based on experience. Start Date: July 1, 2024 Full-Time: Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
