Job Description:
GENERAL PURPOSE
As the North American Supply Chain Leader for the Duncan SC and Minneapolis MN locations, you will have full responsibility for Supply Chain operations including material planning and procurement in a mixed model manufacturing environment and provides direct leadership to both teams. The NA Supply Chain Leader partners with the various site operational functions and Packaging Platform Strategic Sourcing teams to ensure highly efficient lean Supply Chain execution in terms of material cost, quality, delivery, and inventory. This leader provides insightful leadership by encouraging others to discover, develop and apply their talents enabling them to reach their full potential and engages in our Lean journey by building and acting on continuous improvement and development opportunities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and implement improvements in the Supply Chain to support the growth and customer go-to-market strategies. Improve responsiveness to customers and reduce operating expenses and working capital.
  • Cultivate a culture of people, purpose and performance, in alignment with Barry-Wehmiller's Guiding Principles of Leadership.
  • Proactively engage in the personal growth of Supply Chain team members. Ensure effective leadership, staffing, skill sets and training to meet team goals and evolving business needs.
  • Recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of teams and individuals.
  • Develop inventory management strategies and programs to ensure maximum inventory turns, best price, high quality and consistent support to just in time style manufacturing and high availability aftermarket.
  • Mentor, develop and provide training to drive process standardization and rigor in all purchasing and material planning activities. Incudes process optimization, development of standard work and training documentation.
  • Work with key members of the Supply Chain, new product development, engineering, manufacturing and other key functional areas of the business. Support the S&OP processes/metrics, guidelines, and policies
  • Build multi-functional teams to support better Supply-Demand planning integrating with sites, purchasing, sales and marketing, customer service and finance to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Drive relentless focus and organizational execution on the following key supply base metrics: Delivery (OTD), Inventory (DOI), Supplier Quality (PPM), Cost (Material Savings)
  • Manage the day-to-day Purchasing and Material Planning functions to achieve key metrics - on time, at planned cost and quality.
  • Support Strategic Sourcing initiatives to develop and execute the best value global Supply Chain for the division with a focus on the NA Business units.
  • Collaborate with Operations to develop and execute Make/Buy strategies.
  • Initiate and drive projects for continuous improvement in the areas of material cost, inventory accuracy and planning. Develop and automate key metrics and ensure continuous improvement to metrics over time.
  • Drive and ensure suppliers are held accountable for meeting continuous improvement initiatives including lead time reduction, flexibility to schedules, quality improvement & inventory reduction in conjunction with Platform and divisional Strategic Sourcing Functions
  • Implement Kanban/VMI/Pull/3PL contracts to ensure maximum inventory turns, best price, high quality, and consistent support to manufacturing.
  • Continuously improve performance levels and people/organizational capabilities in line with established objectives, working with local and regional/global teams.
  • Develop and lead an engaged group of team members to deliver on business priorities while ensuring compliance with required regulations and practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Logistics Management, or Operations Management.
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 8 years of Purchasing and/or Material Planning and Operations experience.
  • Experience in an Assemble-to-order (ATO)/Engineer to Order (ETO) manufacturing environment with thorough MPS/MRP knowledge and functionality.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing teams.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES
  • Strong background and understanding of the following in a mixed model manufacturing environment: Tactical Procurement (Buying), Kanban/Pull Systems & Inventory Optimization and Material Planning
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Strong project management skills / background
  • Knowledge, experience and proficiency with ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey information and ideas in a variety of media.
  • Strong influencing skills - ability to influence & collaborate across functional and geographic boundaries as well as across organizational tiers
  • Action oriented; enjoys challenges; can do approach with a drive for results
  • Ability to set priorities and execute schedule to achieve milestones/objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and hold others accountable.
  • Solid analytical skills and solution-driven thinking; collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data. Makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment.

  • Demonstrate a professional demeanor with a strong work ethic, representing Barry-Wehmiller with high integrity.
  • Ability to travel and work between two manufacturing locations as required.
  • May require occasional overseas, international travel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in a technical or business-related discipline.
  • APICS / Supply Chain Certifications or other Materials related certifications.
  • Experience with Infor XA.
  • Experience with Fabrication, Machining, Castings, Forgings and mechanical components and assemblies.
