Job description

Summary: Responsible for the training and development of Department Managers and associates while assessing performance, department conditions and adherence to Harris Teeter standards. This position will provide training in department specific standards, merchandising compliance, inventory management, sanitation, and Service Excellence to achieve sales, gross profit, and controllable profit goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Implement new initiatives, train all associates, follow-up and track business process performance measures in all CAO stores as assigned.
• Work with Regional and District Supervision to facilitate and support cultural change management for the entire chain.
• Provide store specific analysis to District leadership upon visiting stores for process review and training.
• Provide training and coaching to stores regarding merchandising compliance, inventory management, sanitation, and rotation.
• Implement new initiatives including, but not limited to Merchandising programs, vendor rollouts, and process improvements.
• Research and respond to all questions and opportunities in stores.
• Provide continuous support and real-time analysis/feedback to Store Operations, Field Personnel, Regional Staff, Merchandising, Training and Development, Asset Protection, Distribution, and Accounting.
• Develop targeted rollout plans and training documentation as directed.
• Track Key Performance Indicators (KPI) at all stores as directed.
• Conduct out of stock scans and Non-Perishable checklists quarterly at assigned stores.
• Ensure proper item set-up by Merchandising and Item Maintenance in HQPM and communicate all item setup problems to the appropriate department.
• Monitor and facilitate CAO with DSD Vendors in assigned stores.
• Attend total store resets. Provide support to the store team and SAS as required. Communicate opportunities to the appropriate parties.
• Build Presentation requirement (PR) jobs prior to total store resets in assigned stores.
• Identify focus stores. Develop training and support plans to improve performance of those stores.
• Build PR jobs in all new stores opening in assigned stores.
• Share on-call responsibilities, requiring 24/7 support.
• Identify and maintain training stores in each District.
• Facilitate DLT and LDP training classes for CAO.
• Assist in developing new training courses associated with the introduction of new processes or products.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Required:
a) Minimum 1 year of corporate or regional-level merchandising or sales experience in a consumer packaged goods business;
or
b) Completion of LDP and a minimum of 1 year as a Harris Teeter Co-Manager, or Store Manager;
or
c) Minimum 2 years of corporate or regional-level merchandising experience;
or
d) Completion of DLT and a minimum of 2 years as a Harris Teeter Department Manager;
or
e) An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from four-year College or university plus
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Candidate should be able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals as directed. Must be able to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
This position is required to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry and apply the results to the store conditions. Associate must be able to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Qualified candidate has to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be an expert at proper CAO process execution and have demonstrated proficiency at Store level. Applicant should also have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft PowerPoint; WFM; HT Intranet; SoftGrocer, SoftGrocer Reports, SMART, and BME Systems support desk on call function. HQPM; POS; Trickle T-log; ABC

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job serves as a liaison between Store Operations, Merchandising, Accounting, Distribution, IS, and Store Management. It assists Store Operations and Merchandising with process execution in all stores but does not have any direct reports.
