Reporting to the Transportation Manager, the Non-CDL Delivery Driver will be responsible for a route of 15-25 stops daily. The deliveries require unloading the product via hand, pallet jack, dolly and/or lift gate then delivering the merchandise to where the customer prefers. An important aspect of this position will be delivering not only products but exceptional customer service.
Sofo Foods is one of the largest family owned wholesale distributors of Italian and ethnic foods in the US, and is currently looking for you to fill the role of Non-CDL Driver at our Distribution Center in Houston, TX and become part of our delivery team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Loads truck with daily merchandise to be delivered and unloads merchandise for customers.
- Pulls orders to match manifests.
- Performs routine inspections of vehicles and supplies to ensure road safety.
- Plans route to and from customers' businesses and adjusts for traffic and/or road conditions.
- Ensures that manifests are complete and accurate.
- Delivers merchandise to customers and contacts customers if they are not present.
- Collect signature and/or payments at delivery locales.
- Scan or write in confirmation of delivery upon arrival to recipient client.
- Pick up customer returns, validating product match for credit requests.
- Prepares and maintains records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Provides assistance to resolve customer issues.
- Check in with transportation on delivery progress as needed.
- Maintain and organize all delivery paperwork and deliver it to the proper personnel at the end of each shift.
- Report any accidents or vehicle issues encountered while enroute, to supervisors.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, fuel the truck as needed, and report any problems or issues to supervisor
- Follow all DOT (Department of Transportation) standards and regulations
- Follow and implement all company safety policies and procedures
Job Requirements:
Requirements, Qualifications & Essential Skills:
- Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent certification.
- 0-3 years truck driving experience is strongly preferred.
- A background in warehouse operations and logistics, including shipping, receiving and delivery is a plus.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must have a clean driving record with no moving violations.
- Clear MVR
- Must Pass a DOT physical
- Proficient at driving and parking large vehicles.
- Physically fit and strong, able to lift 25 pounds comfortably.
- Experience using hand trucks, pallet jacks and forklifts a plus.
- Professional and pleasant disposition, able to give all clients a positive customer service experience.
- Candidate should be dependable, hardworking and an effective communicator.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills required.
Compensation and Benefits:
