Job description

This is a temporary position(s) with the University of Utah First Star Academy for Foster Youth (firststar.utah.edu). The Night Shift Youth Coach will be responsible for monitoring the youth in the dorms at night. We are looking to hire 1-2 people to cover all the shifts needed for the entire 4-week program. The position allows for doing activities like reading and homework through the night as long as it is not distracting to the primary responsibilities attached to the position.

Responsibilities
  • Stay awake from 11pm to 7am to monitor the common room and hallways of a dorm
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure the well-being and safety of youth in the dorms
  • Collaborate with other staff whenever interacting with youth
  • Employ non-adversarial approaches to behavior management
  • Be the first point-of-contact in case of emergencies


Minimum Qualifications
This is a seasonal, temporary, non-benefited position that can be used for positions six months or less.
Seasonal work generally means work that by its very nature can only be performed during certain times of the year.
