Job Summary and Qualifications
TheNICU Speech Language Pathologistprovides high-quality, patient-centered evidence-based care through a continuum of services for infants and families with regard to communication, cognition, feeding, and swallowing, family, caregiver and staff education. As a member of the health care team, the Speech Language Pathologist performs a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate assessment of structure and function that includes, but is not limited to, reflexes, interactive abilities, prefeeding behaviors, oral feeding and swallowing behaviors, and other oral sensory motor functions.
What you will do in this role:
- You will conduct an assessment to identify infants at risk for and with existing developmental/neurodevelopmental problems.
- You will structure and implement an individualized program to promote developmentally appropriate and family-centered care.
- You will evaluate the infant regularly during treatment and adjust program as needed to maximize outcomes.
- You will consult with the Neonatologist and other members of the team regarding results of assessments and care plan.
- You will document progress in infants chart. You will complete notes, charges, caregiver/family/staff communication.
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- National Association of Neonatal Therapist (NANT) Certification (preferred)
- Must have at least 2 years of experience in NICU setting and be able to perform MBSS on neonates and outpatient pediatrics.
- Master Degree in Speech Language Pathology. Possession of a valid STATE license to practice Speech Language Pathology.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
