Job description

Under the direction of the CSI Early College Director, the grant funded Next Gen Grant Early College Coordinator (ECC) works in multiple high school locations in the Mini-Cassia area to help students successfully with dual credit and advanced opportunities to successfully define their education and career aspirations, while providing a broad spectrum of purposeful student services, and support, as well as organizing and supporting youth career exploration camps during the summer.  This position will be focused on developing relationships with the local high school teams and students they service.  The ECC will also advocate the value of a postsecondary education, including workforce training, CTE, and apprenticeships, to help students achieve individual education goals.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Serve as the postsecondary Early College Coordinator at multiple high school locations, which will include travel to various locations in the Mini-Cassia area.
  2. Assist high school staff, students and CSI Student Services teams with Dual Enroll processes and application.
  3. Proactively works as an integral partner with the CSI Admissions Recruiting and Enrollment Specialist teams to assist and support students through the transition and enrollment processes.
  4. Work with students one-on-one and in small group settings to help students create their own academic and college plans utilizing Dual Credit course offerings and ensure a clear path to successful postsecondary education and access to career fields.
  5. Assist students in the completion of enrollment processes which include, but is not limited to admission application, course registration, certificate of residency form, financial aid, and student orientation registration. Additionally, promote Next Gen Scholarships to prospective students.
  6. Diligently works with high school teams to form relationships with Administration, Counselors, College and Career Advisors, Advanced Opportunities Coordinators and Dual Credit Instructors to facilitate information back and forth from Department to High Schools programs monthly.
  7. Collaboratively work with school district personnel to develop a strategic plan which identifies and retains student participants in the Early College program.
  8. Coordinate college recruitment and transition activities with respective campus offices and staff (i.e. Admissions, Enrollment Services, Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid Office, Office of Student Affairs, faculty, department chairs, and focus area advisors).
  9. Enthusiastically participate in high school sponsored functions that promote college attainment which include post-secondary testing and school sponsored tours. 
  10. Utilize IR data tools to collect, retrieve, and analyze student information at the respective high schools for recruiting and transition purposes as a regular job functionality.
  11. Connect students to the State of Idaho Advanced Opportunities state aid to help students navigate their K-12 education and provide support to earn college credit in high school.
  12. When available, participate in campus events with the ECC respective high schools in attendance.
  13. Actively engage and include students’ parents or guardians in the postsecondary planning process through various Early College functions throughout the State of Idaho.
  14. Maintain current knowledge of Idaho State Board of Education Advanced Opportunities Governing Policies and The National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships Accreditation Standards.

 

Summer Career Camp Facilitation:

  1. Plan, coordinate, and facilitate career camps during the summer for high school students, offering hands-on activities and workshops focused on various career pathways.
  2. Work with CSI faculty and staff to develop camp curricula and learning materials, ensuring alignment with educational standards and career exploration objectives.
  3. Collaborate with local businesses, professionals, and community organizations to secure guest speakers, industry tours, and experiential learning opportunities for camp participants.
  4. Evaluate camp effectiveness and gather feedback from participants, making improvements for future programs.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to additional hours to achieve departmental goals.

  • Good judgement and professionalism in dealing with pressures and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong computer and technical skillset. 
  • Willingness to receive additional training to improve job skills. 
  • 2 or more years of experience in higher education preferred.
  • Experience with Admissions, Recruiting and Transition processes preferred.
  • Knowledge of career exploration resources, industry trends, and local labor market needs.
  • Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, including high school personnel, college faculty, and community partners.
  • Flexibility to work during the summer months to facilitate career camps.
  • Experience with Dual Credit and Advanced Opportunities preferred.
  • Associate degree (bachelor’s degree in leadership or Higher Education, or related field preferred) from an accredited college or university.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

 

  • Road travel to various high school sites in Mini-Cassia area.
  • Ability to work flexible as schedule may include late afternoon, evenings, and occasional weekends during certain periods of the year.
  • Will require the use of a personal, reliable vehicle. Mileage relating to and from high schools from an established base (campus or off-campus center) will be reimbursed at the institutional rate.
