Job Summary:
The intern will be responsible for tasks and duties delegated by the Intern Leadership Team, Department Managers, and other designated hospital staff. Duties may include but are not limited to the following. Provide direct or indirect patient care under direct supervision: assist hospital team members, document patient information, and assist as needed in patient care of daily activities and comfort. Shadow, learn, and perform tasks in various roles and departments within our Health Systems. Interns will be required to participate in team activities of summer events, marketing of the internship program, and t-shirt design. Complete all required meetings, documentation, and projects set by the Nex-Generation Internship program.
Job Qualifications:
Experience: Customer/patient service experience preferred, not required.
Education: Some High School and/or College, preferred, not required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.)
Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking.
Heavy workload: exerting 50-100 lbs of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 lbs of force
frequently, and/or 10-20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
Motor coordination and manual dexterity.
Ability to carry out procedures as outlined.
Normal eyesight, with or without corrective lenses
Normal hearing, with or without hearing aid
Daily lifts supplies/equipment.
PATIENT AGE GROUPS SERVED: Children, Youth, Adult and Geriatric.

1. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, continuous
quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
2. Ability to function independently or as a member of a team.
3. Prioritizes assignments to complete tasks in a timely and professional manner.
4. May provide personal care assistance to patients, including bathing, dressing, eating,
bed pans, transportation, skincare, and positioning as trained.
5. Keep patient areas straightened and clean.
6. Maintain patient information and documentation under direct staff supervision.
7. Maintain confidentiality of all patient data and HIPAA compliance.
8. Demonstrates sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy.
9. Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings as required.
10. Perform any additional duties given by the supervising department manager or internship supervisor.
