The Desert Review is an award-winning independent printed and online newspaper launched in 2010. Our writers are local and engaged in reporting on government affairs from city councils to board of supervisors. As the Renewable Energy Capitol of the State, reporters report on the upcoming lithium extraction, geothermal, solar and wind turbines. Our paper also reports on sports, from the professional rodeo to high school competitions. Our mission is to bring the news of the Imperial Valley in an honest and non-biased manner to the citizens. We are looking for someone who:
- Can write in a clear and concise manner
- Can communicate facts accurately
- Has a curious outlook and an interest in local news
Trustworthy transportation is necessary as the Valley is a large county and events happen in all corners. Articles average 500 words, with five photos and a video submitted. A working knowledge of technology is helpful but not required. This is a full-time office job. The ideal applicant is willing to transition quickly and repeatedly between traveling throughout the Valley to cover stories and working in the office to write articles. Expect to write at least one to four articles per week. Pay is negotiable and dependent upon journalistic experience.
