Job Description:
The Market Manager will be responsible for leading the sales and distribution teams, working with the Regional Director as well as VPs of Sales and Distribution to create and execute sales go-to-market and market activation strategies that drive growth and meet revenue targets. The successful candidate will have experience managing a team of sales representatives, a deep understanding of the New York cannabis industry, and a proven track record of success in driving revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop a team of sales representatives, providing guidance and support to ensure sales targets are met
- Oversee distribution team: own back-of-house SOPs including picking/packing, manifesting, routing logistics, and delivery sequence
- Develop and execute sales strategies in alignment with national objectives and market-specific demand
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders in the cannabis industry
- Collaborate with the sales management team to develop and implement pricing strategies, promotions, and other initiatives to drive revenue growth
- Analyze market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth
- Collaborate with the Finance department to reconcile and manage accounts receivable
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and changes in regulations to ensure compliance and inform sales strategies
- Ability to travel 75% to be a hands-on mentor for account managers and distribution team
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 5 years of sales experience, with at least 3 years of experience managing a team of sales representatives
- Professional experience in, and deep connections across, the local cannabis industry in assigned state
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of sales metrics and how to use data to inform decision-making
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Work Environment:
This job requires significant time on the road: visiting key accounts, working with Account Managers, on-site visits to the production/distribution center, and potential out-of-market trips for training & events. Subject to regular DMV Motor Vehicle Records checks for insurance purposes.
Physical Demands:
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time while traveling or working from desk-based office environment
- Ability to lift 15-30lbs occasionally
- Ability to use hands for building/assembling marketing materials
Compensation:
This position starts at $100,000/year base salary + commission bonus plan that will be shared during the interview
