ROLE:
The New Mexico Work-Study program provides students with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a professional setting through employment on campus that supports their career and degree program. It offers students who are eligible the opportunity to build their resumes while they work toward achieving their degree. New Mexico Work-Study employees will provide administrative and office support to various departments at various campus locations, and participate in professional development workshops.
Major Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:
o Help plan, schedule, and implement activities for individual and/or group activities based on the department needs.
o Coordinate and participate in planned activities designed to promote social interaction and intellectual stimulation.
o Clerical duties such as answering phones, writing memos, running errands, word documents, Xeroxing, faxing, etc.
o Assist with the creation of flyers, special events notices, and help publicize events
o Tasks assigned by department location
Qualifications:
o Must have an unmet financial need as determined by their Cost of Attendance
o Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (Spring24)
o Must have a completed FAFSA on file and qualify for Title IV funding such as Pell Grant
o Must be in Good Standing with Financial Aid
o Must be a New Mexico Resident
Learning Outcome:
o Students develop critical Customer Service skills and office-based skills
o Students will learn time management, professionalism, and cooperative teamwork
o Employees will gain insight working in an office-type environment, and students will gain the proper experience working and will develop the knowledge and terminology to successfully transition into the workforce.
