POSITION REPORTS TO: 

Production Manager 

 

POSITION OVERVIEW 

A technician is responsible for performing general and preventive maintenance on the electrical and mechanical systems.  

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Regular and predictable attendance 

  • Follow safety rules and work in a manner that is conducive to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace 

  • Perform preventative maintenance procedures as scheduled 

  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment and building systems 

  • Assist and train other internal and contracted maintenance technicians 

  • Assist contractors with repairs, revisions, construction, and new equipment setup 

  • Always make safety a priority  

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification. 

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role. 

  • Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques. 

  • Physically capable and available to work overtime including weekends, public holidays, and evenings. 

  • Effective problem-solving abilities. 

  • Must be well- organized and have the ability to prioritize tasks. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred and mechanical training 

 

MACHINES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: 

  • Toolbox and tools 

  • Arc and Gas welder 

  • Drill press 

  • Engine hoist 

  • AC equipment  

  • Propane torch 

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT USED: 

  • Ear plugs 

  • Steel Toe Safety Shoes 

  • Safety Glasses 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FREQUENCY, AMOUNT, OR DESCRIPTION  

1.  Standing: Ability to stand while working 10% of day  

  1. Sitting:  Ability to sit down 25% of day  

  1. Moving: Ability to move throughout plant 40% of day  

  1. Lifting:  Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. 10% of day  

  1. Ascending/Descending: Ability to walk upstairs, climb to top of range  

                    (approx. 16 ft) 5% of day  

  1. Push/Pull/Reach: 5% of day 

         

  1. Bending: Ability to pick up objects from the floor 5% of day  

  1. Visual Acuity: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties,  

                            including reading information from printed sources and 

       computer screens.                   100% of day  

9. Cognitive: Alert. Able to make decisions, reason, and understand 

 information.           100% of day  

10. Pulmonary: Ability to work in cotton dust environment.  Meet cotton         100% of day 

   pulmonary function requirements 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION 

This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This position is a safety-sensitive position and regularly works around moving mechanical parts and powered industrial vehicles. Noise level is generally loud.  

 

SHIFT/WORK HOURS 

Monday through Friday 40 hours/week
