Job description

Overview
The Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse (RN) will work with a team of physicians, other nurses, patient care techs, and other professionals from various departments of the hospital such as Laboratory, Radiology, and Respiratory Therapy. CRHS ED is a certified Level III Trauma Center, AR SAVES spoke site and receiving site, and a designated Arkansas Stroke Ready Hospital (ArSRH). The ED RN is part of a team that provides care for traumatically injured patients, and critically ill patients suffering from life threatening conditions such as Heart Attack or Stroke. The ED RN works alongside the team with the common goal of providing compassionate, quality care to a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatrics within a fast paced environment. The ED RN will assess and monitor a wide array of health conditions and injuries, administer medications, and perform procedures such as moderate sedation, intraosseous and intravascular therapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The ED RN must have a mind that is always assessing and triaging patient complaints and conditions with efficiency and accuracy. The ED RN must be skilled in maintaining proper lines of communication with the health care team, patients, and families. The ED RN will routinely evaluate episodic and acute responses to broad classifications of physical and psychosocial conditions, as well as manage the planning and implementation of interventions. The ED RN will utilize the nursing process in the provision of care and will practice within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and the policies, procedures, and standards of the Health System. The ED RN will demonstrate a commitment to teamwork through effective collaboration efforts.
SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION:
This position is a designated as "Safety Sensitive Position" under Act 593 of the State of Arkansas. An employee who is under the influence of Marijuana constitutes a threat to patients/customers which Conway Regional is responsible for in providing and supporting the delivery health care related services.
Responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED PRIOR TO INDEPENDENCE FROM PRECEPTOR:
  • Successful completion of American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
  • Computer-Assisted Self-Directed New Employee Orientation
  • Successful completion of Point of Care Testing Equipment Orientation
  • Successful completion of Meditech Information System Orientation
  • Other qualifications required by the specific job description

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED PRIOR TO COMPLETION OF ORIENTATION:
  • Successful demonstration of clinical equipment appropriate to department
  • Successful completion of orientation skills checklist
  • Attendance at New Employee Orientation classroom program

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR COMPLETEION OF NURSE RESIDENCY:
  • Satisfactory completion of CRMC Nurse Residency program including attendance and participation in classroom activities and projects.
  • Successful progression through the six-month mentoring program.

Qualifications
• Registered Nurse with current, active license to practice in Arkansas required. Licensed for less than 6 months
• BSN preferred, required within four years of hire
• Certification Preferred
• Proof of high school or equivalent or higher education
• Successful completion of American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
• Basic keyboarding skills, preferred
Other education and experience may be substituted (if applicable) for the required minimum job qualifications with the approval of the Corporate Director of Human Resources.
