POSITION SUMMARY: This position will report to the Manufacturing Engr Supervisor. As the ideal candidate for this role of Manufacturing Engineer / Engineering Technician, you will support all Manufacturing Engineering activities. Your manufacturing assignments will include implementing and facilitating lean manufacturing initiatives, implementing engineering change orders, assigning inventory locations, conducting contract reviews, creating shop floor instructions, evaluating standards, and completing capital and facility upgrades.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Provide Manufacturing Engineering support and services within assigned manufacturing cell(s).
- Provide support as the acting Cell Leader in the Cell Leader absence. Duties are as outlined in the Cell Leader job description.
- Work effectively as a cell team member to ensure operational metrics are achieved and any remedial actions is actively pursued.
- Maintain current updates on Manufacturing Engineering related tasks on the manufacturing cell log. x Represent Manufacturing Engineering within assigned cells at the daily cell meetings and weekly plant metrics meetings.
- Design or specify any equipment/tooling/racking required to support manufacturing.
- Review relevant engineering change orders (ECOs) within assigned cells or assigned option groups and support all aspects of production implementation. x
- Assign default locators to all parts within assigned manufacturing cells.
- Create shop floor instructions and hot sheets and train the necessary personnel on those standards.
- Update and maintain layouts (plant & cell layouts and inventory, housekeeping, emergency, & security maps etc.)
- Specify and facilitate capital and equipment upgrades, installations, or modifications.
- Implement and facilitate lean manufacturing initiatives (5s, value stream mapping, set-up reduction etc.)
- Promote an environment of continuous improvement and teamwork. x Lead or participate in SWAT team meetings, ensuring that necessary action is taken between cross functional groups to resolve issues.
- Conduct process observations to ensure that assigned time standards are fair and consistent.
- Maintain necessary resource plans for ensuring production activities are properly resourced.
- Validate routings, submit, and implement routing change requests to process planning where appropriate.
- Conduct contract reviews prior to contract start to ensure production preparedness per SR as assigned. This review conducted as outlined in the New Flyer Instruction - Manufacturing Readiness Assessment.
- Participate in Non-Conforming Parts (NCP) meetings as assigned, to assist with the disposition of nonconforming materials.
- Initiate engineering change requests where appropriate.
- Support process planning and production engineering.
- Participate in internal and outside supplier certifications and audits, as required.
- May be asked to carry over to 2nd Shift on a limited basis.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Three to Five years previous Manufacturing Engr. / Manufacturing Engr. Technician experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment preferred.
- Lean Manufacturing and 5S experience.
- Superior interpersonal, problem solving and communicating skills.
- Superior Project management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to as effective team member, mentor others, and ability to work well under pressure.
- Goal orientated and motivation to achieve tasks within set timelines.
- Superior Power Point, Auto Cad, and Microsoft Office.
