Job description

Duties:
"Under the limited supervision of the Neurodiagnostic (ND) Tech Educator or delegated team member, prepares patients for a combination of routine Electroencephalography (EEG), Electromyography (EMG), long-term and intraoperative monitoring, evoked potentials, nerve conduction velocities, autonomic testing, Neuro Interventional radiology WADA and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) including diagnostic and investigative studies in the laboratory, at the bedside, and in critical care units, on all ages of patients served by the department. Additional duties but not limited to charge capture, scheduling patients and other duties as assigned. May be required to float to other sites to ensure optimal department operations.
Accurately measures and applies electrodes in a timely manner, according to the International 10-20 System. Ensures that electrode impedances meet laboratory standards.
Documents a comprehensive patient history gathering appropriate information from patient, patient's record, and family members to include seizure types, date of last seizure, other neurological symptomatically and medications. Explains test procedure to patient and family members present Ability to recognize medical contraindications of activation procedures.
Under the limited supervision of the ND Educator or delegated team member, performs neurodiagnostic procedures according to the standards of the laboratory Prepares testing supplies, exam room and neurodiagnostic equipment according to the standards of the laboratory
Under the supervision of the ND Educator or delegated team member, implements alternative methods or adjust controls to obtain optimal recording. This may include appropriate control setting changes on the machine, use of extra electrodes, extra montages, eliminates/recognizes artifact and use of activation procedures. Under the limited supervision of the ND Educator or delegated team member, follows the EMU (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit) Observer I standards of care as it relates to collaborative communication with the team and maintaining quality EEG recordings. Under the limited supervision of the ND Educator or delegated team member, observe and begin training for EMG, EVP, Autonomics, Intraoperative monitoring (IOM), WADA and PET
Under limited supervision of the ND Educator or delegated team member, triages software error messages, equipment malfunctions, and other technical issues with patient care.
Assist Tech I and also enter documentation and charges timely and correctly
Assists front desk with scheduling and checking in patients.
Under the limited supervision of the ND Educator or delegated team member, reviews and clips EMU and continuous EEG files according to the standards of the lab."
Skills:
"A minimum of 2+ years of experience is preferred.
Ability to perform Electroencephalography (EEG), in addition to 1 or more of the following: Nerve Conduction Velocity Testing (EMG/NCV), Autonomics, Long Term Monitoring, Evoked Potentials or Magnetoencephalography "
Education:
"High school graduate or equivalent is required.
2+ years of proven experience as a Neurodiagnostic Technician is preferred and/or a proven ability to perform Electroencephalography, in addition to 1 or more of the following: Nerve Conduction Velocity Testing, Autonomics, Long Term Monitoring, Evoked Potentials or Magnetoencephalography, or be a graduate of an accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalography E Evoked Potentials (ABRET)
It is preferred to be registered by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) in a minimum of 1 of the following: Registered Electroencephalography Technologist (EEG), Registered Nerve Conduction Velocity Testing(EMG/NCV), Certified Autonomic Professional (CAP), Certified Long Term Monitoring Technologist (CLTM), Registered Evoked Potential Technologist
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
