Job Description
Job Summary:
The Neurodiagnostic Lead is an advanced level position. The Neurodiagnostic Lead has passed two credentialing exams such as R. EEG T., exam and obtained advanced certification in Epilepsy Monitoring (CLTM) credential or Evoked Potential credential R. EP T., or Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) by ABRET or R. NCS. T by AAET. Performs all duties of Neurodiagnostic Tech I & II. This position performs neurodiagnostic testing procedures within the Neurodiagnostic Scope of Practice as set by ASET-The Neurodiagnostic Society. Procedures will be performed according to their competence. Additional responsibilities include providing leadership to the other Neurodiagnostic Tech's and assisting with the orientation of new technicians.
Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervises all of the daily activities and technical aspects of the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. Assists in the hiring of other technologists for the Epilepsy unit.
  • Maintains a work environment that encourages retention, development of the team, customer service and family centered care by being a team role model. Demonstrates ability to function as an advocate, mentor, and leader.
  • Assists the technologists in identifying professional goals and provides opportunities to meet these goals.
  • Actively facilitates problem identification, avoidance and resolution.
  • Monitors employees understanding and adherence to Lurie Children's policies and protocols.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve technical processes through innovation, simplification, increased efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Works with the vendor, biomedical engineering, and IT in order to maintain equipment and troubleshoot technical problems. Orders supplies and reviews inventory of the unit.
  • Performs all duties and essential job functions of Neurodiagnostic Tech I & II.
  • Maintains continuing education requirements of ABRET for credentials by reviewing literature and attending continuing education meetings and seminars.
  • Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.
  • Performs others duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • High school diploma required, AS/BS degree preferable.
  • 6-7 years of experience in Neurodiagnostics. Knowledge of applicable neurodiagnostic operating systems and software.
  • Registration in 2 modalities required such as EEG (R. EEG T.) or Registration in Evoked Potentials (R. EP T.) and Certification in Long Term Monitoring (CLTM) or Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) by ABRET: Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation and/or Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologists (R. NCS. T.) by AAET American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists.
  • Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association required.
  • Ability to move machines and patients weighing in excess of 25 pounds.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with hospital staff and departments.
