Job Description
As a NOC/Switch Technician, you will work onsite in Fort Morgan, Colorado to monitor performance and perform maintenance processes that ensure network systems operate at required levels of speed and reliability, documenting network issues and configuration changes as soon as they occur. You will identify and troubleshoot network issues and follow procedures to resolve problems, which includes dispatching field personnel to perform repairs when necessary and following standard operating procedures to notify users of outages or changes to network status. Techs may also perform upgrades, do preventative maintenance, or equipment installation.
Successful candidates would train during day shift, which could take approximately 8 weeks or until proficiency is reached. Once trained, the technician would transition to the night shift, and their schedule will be Monday-Thursday, 8 pm to 7 am. Shift differential will be provided for hours between 10 pm and 6 am.
Role and Responsibilities
- Perform Tier 1 diagnosis and troubleshooting support for Viaero customers.
- Work under minimal supervision to receive calls and inquiries and provide support in accordance with established processes.
- Document problems and conversations to create a reference that can be used by other technicians and for training purposes.
- Escalate complex incidents to Tier 2, NOC Tech Supervisor, or specialized engineers
- Perform device and network troubleshooting
- Perform basic diagnostics, and notify appropriate parties as needed
- Monitor Ericsson nodes/interfaces for problem indicators
- Check Daily Maintenance Job reports
- Use proper judgment in deciding when to escalate issues to engineers
- Gather, document, and communicate key troubleshooting information
- Compare Device Configurations: e.g., “when it last worked vs now”
- Manage IP/Security Alerts – Document and communicate appropriate information
- Assist specialty engineers with pre and post testing network functions
- Show willingness to further education and knowledge in preparation for advanced responsibilities
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Associate degree in Electronics or the equivalent combination of education and experience operating and maintaining circuit and packet switched core equipment (Two + years of Huawei and Ericsson is desired)
- Must possess excellent professional communication skills to deal with other telecommunications companies.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good knowledge of IP routing and best practices for installation of Ethernet cabling.
- Knowledge of and ability to use Network Protocol Analysis equipment
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record for the past 3-5 years, valid driver's license, clean or acceptable criminal background check, clean substance screening
