Responsibilities for NOC analyst

  • Handling incident management, communication (written and verbal), and troubleshooting with limited direct supervision
  • The Network Operations Center (NOC) is manned 24/7
  • Work in a 365/24x7 Network Operations Center environment
  • Be part of a team that works 24/7 shifts covering 1st level issues for the SLF network infrastructure.
  • Monitor events and alerts, triage/analyze, and resolve or escalate as appropriate.
  • Follow ITIL model for event management, incident management, and change management.
  • Work with 2nd and 3rd level teams to ensure documentation is accurate.
  • Using all monitoring tools to monitor the availability and performance of critical applications, systems, and networks
  • Perform all daily system and network log reviews.
  • Perform all incident management and reporting activities.
  • Provide technical and non-technical communication to internal customers and 3rd parties of issues, remediation, and resolution status
  • Analyze metrics and report performance trends to assist technical personnel to predict future issues or outages
  • Utilize network/system/application monitoring tools to monitor a wide variety of systems that include physical/virtual/cloud servers, public facing web/mobile apps, databases, networking, and storage
  • Answer 24x7x365 hotline to intake and triage all issues reported by internal and external customers
  • Provide desktop and end-user support (primarily during shifts outside of normal business hours)
  • Perform basic systems testing and operational tasks (installation of patches, network connectivity testing, script execution)
  • Interface with other Local Exchange Carriers, Interexchange carriers, ISP's, and Vendors
  • Utilize various ticketing systems to track and document customer troubleshooting and communication
  • Fast paced, high volume position requiring excellent verbal and written skills

Qualifications for NOC analyst
  • 3+ years of experience supporting and monitoring network systems/servers in an enterprise environment
  • Experience working in a process-oriented workflow environment.
  • Solid understanding of network (WAN, LAN, VPN)
  • Solid understanding of TCP and IP Addressing
  • Working knowledge of enterprise software tools such as Lotus Notes, MS Office, and Internet Explorer
  • Proven customer experience and practiced communication skills, both orally and written
  • Experience with Event management and network monitoring tools
  • Must take the initiative to stay abreast of industry and business challenges and incorporate trending analysis with internal data
  • Must be a team player with a demonstrated dependability
  • Network troubleshooting skills (ping, tracert, nslookup)
  • Experience working in a Network Operation Center
  • Experience working with Service Providers and Carriers
  • Experience interacting and working with third-level technicians/engineers and external vendors a plus
  • Availability to work various shifts, extended hours and to provide on-call support as required
  • Visual acuity to read technical documents, computer screens and to accurately identify small parts and components
  • Associates Degree in Electronics/Information
  • Experience using monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Datadog, and SCOM
  • Experience using ServiceNow
