Position: Network Manager
Location: Sacramento, CA (remote but occasionally needs to come onsite)
Duration: 6-12months + CTH
The Network Manager will manage and provide oversight for the development, coordination, implementation, and completion of the network resources, equipment, configuration, instrumentation, and operations. This position will be a hands-on working manager able to resolve issues involving network design, redesign, and integration of new technologies, and will be assigned to retrofit, or debug most aspects of an enterprise network. This person will be responsible for day-to-day operations, work prioritization and team administration.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement standards, procedures, and processes for the NOC.
- Resolve elevated and complex provider service complaints.
- Direct network management strategies and contract for the company.
- Support validation, deployment, optimization, and operations of network nodes.
- Develop value-added solutions that meet customer business needs and share key learnings with others.
- Attract, recruit, hire, develop, mentor, coach and retain top talent.
- Negotiate provisions for new services and pricing with suppliers.
- Ensure the accurate implementation, and administration through matrix partners.
- Accountable for solution and cost delivery of 3rd party services.
- Represent the organization at related external provider meetings and conferences.
- Ensure infrastructure technology recoverability in support of business processes.
- Network firewall and IDS/IPS systems evaluation, design, implementation, and support.
- Perform special projects and other duties assigned by leadership.
- Partner with internal Network Architect to act in a strategy setting role to the business for end user services, hosting services, and telecommunications services.
- Coordinate operations and strategy for all areas of responsibility.
- Interact with partner organizations/departments to design network or system solutions for data center infrastructure.
- Interact with business partners to develop a strategy to implement perimeter and edge security.
- Manage key provider relationships and is accountable for critical interface with providers and business staff.
- Prepare recommendations based on monitoring results, tools analysis, and forensics.
- Understand, develop, track, monitor and report on key program performance metrics, such as utilization, coding, and quality performance.
- Author Reason for Outage (RFO) reports within agreed upon service level agreement
- Review project plans and technical documents to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with enterprise network architecture.
- Define an implementation plan for new technologies.
- Mentor team members on new technology and network best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains a current understanding of Bank policies and procedures in compliance with all federal and state laws, including but not limited to Reg B, FCRA, FDCPA, Bank Secrecy Act (SARs, CIP, OFAC), Information Security (GLBA), Identity Theft Red Flags, Financial Elder Abuse Reporting, Consumer CFPB rules, and any other applicable regulations that may be specific to the position.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED
- Prior experience working as a network architect in an enterprise environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in a related discipline, or equivalent in academic institution; significant applied experience or a combination of education and experience may be substituted.
- 15+ years of experience in the design of large-scale local, wide-area and wireless enterprise networks.
- 10+ years of data center design experience.
- Firewall knowledge, including CheckPoint, Cisco and Palo Alto.
- In-depth hands-on understanding of network design methodologies, network architecture principles, network modeling and inter-relation of various enterprise network solutions.
- Experience with VPN, cloud, Linux, and routing protocols.
- Experience with SIP, IPSEC, DCHP, and RFP/RFI software and systems.
- Extensive knowledge of networking protocols and services – HTTP, LACP, NTP, DNS, TCP/IP, STP, BGP, OSPF, RIP, ARP, L2TP, SSH
- Knowledge in SDWAN technologies
- Understanding of SASE/SSE technologies (Netskope preferred)
- Working knowledge of spine-leaf datacenter architecture
- Knowledge of on-premises and uCaaS/cCaaS based Voice over IP technologies and services.
- Fluency in writing protocols.
- Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable with arrangements and decision making.
- Can oversee day to day operations and prioritize tasks/projects with confidence.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills.
- Must have working knowledge of network physical and logical design.
- Expert knowledge of various routing, switching and security technologies.
- Knowledge of network design for cloud solutions such as Azure and Amazon Web Services.
- Must be able to obtain/maintain any necessary licenses and/or certifications, such as Cisco Certified Network Professional or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert.
- Ability to effectively communicate, present and articulate strategies across various audiences.
- Proven track record of having strong initiative with the ability to seek out opportunities that can create additional value for the organization
- Experienced with ITSM functionalities such as change control, change management database and ticketing system.
- In depth understanding of disaster recovery, design, implementation, and testing.
