Job Description
Primary Responsibilities:
As the Network Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of 8-12 highly skilled analysts, engineers, and architects. In addition, you will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of our Network Engineering and Collaboration (AV/Telecom) services; including capacity management, implementation, standards, process management and change control. At Pillsbury, we ask our technical leaders to be strong engineers who can dive deep and get involved in addition to being strong managers.
As the Network Engineering Manager, you will be expected to drive operational excellence in everything we do. This includes creating processes, procedures and to improve efficiency in our day-to-day tasks and projects. The chosen leader will work with internal teams, management, and vendors to delivery, maintain, and enhance our network security posture.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of network and collaboration analysts, engineers, and architects. Provide strategic direction, oversee day-to-day activities, and manage all network driven project deliverables.
  • Work directly with peers, senior leadership, and team members from IT, SecOps, Risk and Compliance, DevOps, Applications and Services to develop and implement standardized network solutions across the landscape, both on-premises and cloud.
  • Responsible for network transformation - goals, roadmap, and delivery, to ensure the Pillsbury network enables enterprise productivity and aligns with strategic growth imperatives.
  • Serve as an operational escalation point for the Network Operations team.
  • Proven ability to lead an engineering team responsible for architecture, design, and implementation of SD-WAN, SD-Access, ACI and cloud native solutions.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into low-level design criteria and facilitate collaborative engineering sessions that result into highly available network solutions.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of success as a leader within fast paced and dynamic environments that span multiple geographical regions.
  • Exhibit the ability to leverage interpersonal skills to bring teams and leaders together to meet/exceed organizational goals.
  • Leverage business acumen to compile business justification of conceptual ideas to include financial impact, level of effort, benefits/tradeoffs for executive consumption.
  • Manage strategic partnerships with vendors to ensure the engineering team stays abreast of industry trends, to include leading proof of concept and product/service evaluation workstreams.
  • Adhere to IT Service Management policy and procedures for incident management, problem management, and change control activities.
  • Ensure that operational runbooks are published for routine maintenance activities. This includes scheduled maintenance oversight of 3rd party vendors, contractors, and the global network operations team.
  • Ensure that team members compile Microsoft Visio diagrams that depict network architecture and low-level design.
  • Maintain technical configuration documents and lead the review/update of processes and procedures related to network services.
  • Empower engineers and manage the delivery of projects - on-time and within budget.
  • Partner with technology vendors and procurement peers to validate financial costs - capital and expense, statement of work (terms and conditions) that represent technology solutions vetted by Network Engineering tech leads.
  • Develop and report on measurable and obtainable goals / KPI's to achieve timely deliveries within defined quality standards.
  • Manage the development of automation tools and scripts necessary for building, integrating, and deploying deliveries.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or 8 years equivalent working experience within enterprise networking.
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or Information Systems preferred.
  • Law industry experience preferred.
  • 5-7+ years of management experience.
  • Network Industry certifications are strongly preferred.
  • Experience with network automation.
  • Cisco CCNP certification or similar vendor certification strongly preferred (Juniper, Palo Alto, etc.).
  • Experience with Firewall technologies design, implementation and, maintenance. (Cisco ASA FW, Juniper and Palo Alto)
  • Experience with Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, ISR and ASA product lines
  • Experience with DHCP/DNS solutions.
  • Experience with Service Now.
  • Experience with implementing and sustaining monitoring solutions.
  • Experience with packet capture tools
  • Familiarity with modern data center network design including virtualization technologies (Leaf/Spine architectures, EVPN, VXLAN, NFV, etc.)
  • Experience with QoS and cloud hosted voice solutions.
  • Functional knowledge and design of low voltage and fiber plant architecture.
  • Data Center, MDF, and IDF design to include (power, battery backup systems, AC sizing, layout and etc.)
  • Functional knowledge of networking and data communication fundamentals including connectivity methods, security functions, and routing/switching protocols - both cloud and on-premises.
  • Working knowledge of internetworking and security standards (RFC and IETF).
  • Expert knowledge of OSI model.
  • Fundamental networking principles (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP and EIGRP).
  • Technical expertise with Kemp, NetScaler, and F5 load-balancer technology.
  • Working experience with the following: application firewall inspection, web application firewall, intrusion detection/prevention, dynamic web filtering, internet proxy, firewall management and audit tools.
  • Micro segmentation knowledge - architecture, design, and implementation.
  • Microsoft Azure or AWS experience is desired.
  • Problem solving/troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - oral and written.
  • Basic financial and accounting knowledge - amortization, depreciation, CAPEX/OPEX.
  • Ability to work well in a project team environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products - Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Detail and results oriented.
  • Customer focused and excellent organizational skills required.

This position requires the ability to lift up to fifty pounds and to install equipment at any position in standard 7-foot EIA Relay Rack or NetApp cabinet. Occasional travel is required.
