JOB SUMMARY:
As a Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving the various networks at all OMC campuses, ensuring that all data, voice, image, and video network systems are maintained at appropriate service levels. You will work closely with senior team members to provide support for ongoing projects and to ensure that best business processes are adopted. This position will be responsible for administering, organizing, planning, and directing the various networks, and will have a technical understanding of telecommunications, WAN and LAN technology, and wireless networking. You will work closely with senior team members to evaluate, plan, manage, and develop new network-based technology, and will document policies and procedures for all network-based technology. The Network Engineer will train and update appropriate staff on network-based policies and procedures, and will have strong vendor relation skills to ensure high-quality support for maintenance and disaster recovery. You will also have excellent problem analysis and resolution skills, verbal and written communication skills, and mastery of the MS Office applications suite, as well as experience with monitoring and development tools. As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for setting and enforcing network policies, and for ensuring that all technology is operating at optimal levels. You will work closely with senior team members to develop your skills and expertise in this rapidly-evolving field, and will have the opportunity to take on increasing levels of responsibility over time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelor of Science in computer science or engineering, or equivalent experience preferred
Experience
- Two years’ demonstrated experience of advanced management of both WANs and LANs required.
- Comprehensive understanding of OSI model.
- Experience troubleshooting and performance tuning LAN and WAN preferred.
- Three years’ experience with complex networks preferred.
- Experience in routing, Vlans, 80211, EIGRP, Firewalls preferred.
- VPN experience with Cisco ASAs preferred.
- Three years’ experience in VMWare virtual networks preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in advanced telecommunication and network system design and access techniques preferred.
- Core competency in standard Linux commands preferred.
Licensure/Credentials
- Cisco Certified Network Associate certificate preferred.
