In this position you will be afforded the opportunity to telework, however there will be required weekly in-office day(s) in Helena.  Specific conditions will be outlined as part of the job offer and must adhere to state policy.

Do you want to be involved with scripting and automating of network-based management and processes for the State's Enterprise network? Do you want to assist with the design and management of the State's enterprise network monitoring tools as well as investigate network events utilizing packet analysis tools? You may be the person we are looking for!

What is this career opportunity?
You would perform activities to design, craft, and implement network-based scripting and automation processes for the State's Enterprise network. You would also assist with the configuration and management of the various appliance/server platforms used as part of the State's Enterprise network tools and monitoring environment. In addition, you would also assist with supporting the State's Enterprise network tap infrastructure as well as assist with conducting network monitoring and packet analysis activities to troubleshoot/investigate complex network issues or security events. You will work with the State's various vendor partners to stay current on the latest enterprise network automation, network monitoring and network tap technologies. You would also as needed assist in various network audits and risk assessments as well as assist with network disaster recovery planning. An average of 15% of your time would be spent traveling, and 5% of that would be overnight trips.

What are we looking for?

Education and Experience: 

 

         Associates degree in Information Technology or related field and three years of applicable experience; OR

         Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis

 

Preferred:

         Cisco CCNA certification

 

Competencies:

Knowledge of:

         Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python, REST API)

         Experience with Network Automation in Python, Ansible, NETCONF, or RESTCONF

         Experience with Docker containers and PODMAN

         Network device monitoring tools such as NetScout, SolarWinds and Cisco PRIME/DNAC

         Windows and Linux server/appliance management

         SNMP Enterprise Network Monitoring Management

         Network packet capture/Analysis tools such as Wireshark and Omnipeek

         Layer 4 and 7 Firewall and NAT technologies

         Cisco Enterprise network device management and CLI

         Networking concepts, experience with enterprise network solutions and technologies including configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of (Spanning Tree, HSRP, VLANs, 802.1x, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, QOS, wireless solutions and VOIP/Video).

 

Ability to:

         Quickly learn State government IT's environment;

         Effectively communicate with diverse levels of management and stakeholders;

         Rapidly troubleshoot and correct system/network problems timely;

         Provide excellent customer service;

         Automate by programming or scripting experience;

         Communicate technical issues to non-technical individuals;

         Work with high-skilled cross-functional network engineering team members;

         Work independently with minimal supervision and/or as part of a team;

         Assume a lead-role on critical projects
