Role description:

Arcadis seeks a mid-level NEPA Specialist to join our team in Louisiana. Our team is known for innovation and outstanding customer service and will continue to build on these values. This is a unique opportunity to lead and manage the delivery of NEPA documents to maintain and grow the PD&E Central Environmental practices in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

Role accountabilities:

  • Lead and manage multi-firm, multi-task, interdisciplinary team task orders and contracts for infrastructure planning studies. Planning assignments may involve new transportation facilities or other infrastructure developments for the public and private sector.
  • Prepare NEPA documents for minor programmatic Categorical Exclusions to complex Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements.
  • Develop project scopes and budgets, interfacing with and maintenance of clients, mentoring and development of junior staff, and development of project plans and schedules.
  • Adherence to Arcadis' practices including quality and safety standards.
  • Interpersonal and client facing responsibilities will include excellent, clear and concise, oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to coordinate meetings, resources, and presentations.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in planning, policy, a biological or physical science, or economics
  • 4+ years' work experience in planning in serving as a seller-doer with Departments of Transportation

Key Attributes

  • Ability to deliver quality NEPA documents for federally-funded transportation projects that obtain Federal Highway Administration approval.
  • Proven success in delivering minor to complex environmental projects
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must work well in a collaborative environment
  • Fluency with MS Project, Powerpoint, Excel, and Word.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and related project planning or niche discipline used in NEPA analysis
  • Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations.
  • Registration as certified planner (AICP) with the American Institute of Certified Planners or registration as a Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) with the Association of Board-Certified Environmental Professionals.
  • Proficiency with ProjectWise, Primavera, Prezi, MS Access, and other software programs that provide value within the project management and planning contract contexts.
  • Related experience for Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and other departments of transportation in the South.
