Overview
Seattle Children's Hospital is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible pediatric hospitalist for a full-time Neonatal Hospitalist position. Clinical sites include a Seattle Children's community NICU site and in the Seattle Children's NICU. Neonatal hospitalists will primarily work independently at our level II Special Care Nursery at St. Anne Hospital attending deliveries, caring for well infants, providing intensive care for late preterm and other moderate-acuity infants, and stabilizing acutely ill infants for transport. Consultation for newborns in the St. Anne Emergency Department (under 90 days of age) is included. At Seattle Children's Hospital, neonatal hospitalists will work directly with in-house neonatologists to provide care to more acute and critically ill neonates including high-frequency ventilation, therapeutic cooling, care of surgical and other subspecialty conditions, and care of extreme prematurity. This position includes opportunities to attend Division of
Neonatology conferences and UW/SCH faculty educational opportunities, as well as to
participate in quality improvement work and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives.
Sites of practice
St. Anne Hospital (Burien, WA): Level II Special Care Nursery with 6 beds providing CPAP,
high flow nasal cannula, incubator care, gavage feeding, and care of preterm infants from
32-34 weeks gestation. Family Childbirth Center with 14 LDRP rooms and OR for cesarean
deliveries, Maternal-Fetal Medicine consultation services, approximately 900 deliveries
per year.
Seattle Children's Hospital (Seattle, WA): Level IV NICU providing sub-specialty neonatal critical care including care of surgical, neurologic, genetic, and metabolic conditions, as
well as selected neonates with congenital cardiac defects in preterm infants.
Provides medical care in assigned area so that there is coordination of care with patients and attending physicians, and collaboration with nursing, pediatric and other medical and surgical subspecialty services, community physicians and ancillary health team providers. Ensure the quality of all patient care and service, incorporating patient centered care and quality standards, and integration of these services with Seattle Children's goals, vision and philosophy.

Requirements
Required Education/Experience:
  • MD Degree.
  • Board eligibility or certification in Pediatrics by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
  • Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges at Seattle Children's, and assigned medical center(s).

Required Credentials:
  • Licensed as a Physician in the State of Washington or State within WAMI region.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (Olympia, Skagit, St. Anne's, Seattle Children's NICU locations).
  • Federal DEA Registration.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 3 months of hire (only if required for special privileges).
  • Prior to start of employment, must obtain, and maintain in good standing, medical or allied health professional staff privileges that are not limited, revoked, suspended, conditioned, or probationary, except for normal probationary periods due to initial appointment.
  • All medical and allied health professional staff members are provisional for the first year.
  • Any and all medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's will terminate automatically upon the termination of the individual's employment at Children's.
  • Termination of employment does not prohibit the individual from seeking medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's as a non-employee in any category for which the individual qualifies.
  • Questions regarding medical or allied health professional staff privileges may be directed to Medical Staff Services.

Preferred:
  • Experience in pediatric emergency medicine.
    Experience attending deliveries and leading resuscitative efforts
    Experience in neonatal intubation, umbilical lines, chest tubes
    Experience working in community hospital settings, including stabilization of critically ill
    infants for transport
    Board eligibility or certification in Pediatric Hospital Medicine by the American Academy
    of Pediatrics

Min to Max Hourly Salary
$91.02 - $101.54 /hr
Min to Max Annual Salary
$189,318.00 - $211,208.00 /yr
Salary Information
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.

Seattle Children's offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
