THIS POSITION REQUIRES CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECKS AND A PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREEN.
Job Title: HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
Reports To: Superintendent
Evaluated By: Superintendent
Supervises: All professional, paraprofessional, administrative, and non-professional
personnel assigned to the school.
JOB GOALS: To use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills so as to promote the educational development of each student.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed for the position.
1. Possess a basic or standard administrative license/certificate.
2. Possess a master's degree in related area of study.
3. Minimum of four successful years as a teacher in grades 9-12.
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board and Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Supervise the school's educational program.
2. Supervises the school's physical plant maintenance.
3. Supervises the school's cafeteria and service of daily meals
4. Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board Policies and regulations by the school's staff and students.
5. Assists in the development, revision and evaluation of the school's curricular programs.
6. Ensures that the school's graduation requirements meet District and State standards.
7. Ensures that State Testing Assessments are conducted as prescribed.
8. Ensure that all programs (academic, career education and co-curricular) meet the District and State guidelines.
9. Ensures for regular student attendance, appropriate student conduct and student welfare/safety.
10. Ensures for the use of developmentally appropriate practices unique to the needs of High School students.
11. Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training and assigning of staff.
12. Plans and assists in the in-service orientation and training of teachers.
13. Evaluates the school's classified and certified staff according to established procedures.
14. Recommends the removal of members of the staff whose work is unsatisfactory, according to established procedures.
15. Conducts regularly scheduled meetings of the staff for the proper functioning of the school.
16. Makes recommendations concerning the school's administration and instruction.
17. Assists in planning and approves the Master Schedule.
18. Ensures for the supervision and evaluation of the school's extra-curricular program.
19. Budgets school time to provide for the efficient conduct of school instruction and business.
20. Assists in the inservice orientation and training of teachers, with special responsibility for staff administrative procedures and instructions.
21. Supervises the preparation of all school reports for the District Office.
22.Is responsible for the management and preparation of the school budget.
23.Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students.
24. Acts as liaison between the school and the community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation in school life.
25. Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development, for keeping current with literature, new research findings and improved techniques and for attending appropriate professional meetings and conventions.
26. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Board and/or superintendent.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, BONDING, AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED:
* Administrative credential.
* Foreign Language helpful.
* Must possess and maintain a valid First Aid Card if required.
* Criminal History Background check.
* Pre-employment drug screen.

Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION:
Following the probationary period, performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of administrative personnel.
