Role Summary/Purpose
The role of NDT X-Ray Level II will be to conduct NDT (Non Destructive Testing) inspections/tests utilizing conventional and digital methods, interpreting and evaluating results using specific techniques and complying with industry and customer requirements for aerospace products.
Job Responsibilities
- Ability to read and understand complex drawings related to weld inspections where NDT inspection is required.
- Utilize industry standards, customer documents and technique sheets to identify the inspection criteria
- Performing and document system checks, keep up with equipment calibration and maintenance and order NDT supplies as needed.
- Work with manufacturing documentation such as router, travelers or work orders, bill of materials and supplier and customer purchase orders.
- Familiar with documenting nonconformance report when inspection results do not meet the blue print, technique or specification requirements.
- Process parts in accordance with approved technical instructions; shoot parts, interpret film and/or images to evaluate and document inspection results.
- Maintain inspection records that can be readily available for daily reviews and audits.
- Participate in NDT internal and customer audits.
- Assist the Responsible NDT Level III in developing specific technique sheets, procedures and work instructions
- Train new employee to company requirements
- Support company's Key Performance Indications, goals and objective in terms of support, execution of tasks, collecting and analyzing data, reporting status of Quality Management System (QMS) compliance.
- Perform these duties and any other duties required or requested to support compliance and sustainability of the NDT inspection process and the Quality Management System (QMS).
Required Skills/Experience
- 5 years manufacturing experience in non-destructive testing (Radiographic Testing Method)
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Currently or previously certified to NDT Level II in X-Ray in accordance with NAS-410
- Documented hours for Training, & Experience per NAS-410 Radiographic Testing Level II (either film or non-film (digital) methods)
- Current documented radiation safety training
- Able to read and interpret blueprint and engineering drawings and be able to document non-conformances as required
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and controls such as machining, heat treat, and welding.
- Must read and write in English
Desired Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently or with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
- Ability to make sound and timely decisions based on relevant information
- Demonstrate time management skills to meet inspection and delivery dates
- Aerospace or aviation experience strongly desired
- Familiarity with AS9100, NADCAP, and other Quality / NDT auditing / accreditation systems strongly preferred
- Experience with digital/computed radiography (CR) strongly desired (familiarity with GE CR systems and software a plus)
- Experience in the interpretation of flaws in welds strongly desired
- Certification in other NDT methods (Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Ultrasonic inspection, Weld Inspection) strongly desired.
