Job Description
The core function of the Location and Environment Bureau (LEB) is to balance transportation project delivery, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship for Iowa's transportation interests. Part of this core function includes reviewing transportation projects for potential impacts to wetland and streams, and threatened and endangered species, as well as stewardship of our mitigation sites. This position will serve an important role in LEB by assisting us meet the requirements of federal environmental regulations.
Assist LEB team members with day-to-day duties including but not limited to wetland and threatened and endangered species field work and project reporting, mitigation site surveys, environmental planning, GIS analysis, data entry, and project related administrative work.
Duration Options: Position available starting summer 2024 (up to 40 hours per week). Depending on Bureau workload and resources, one or two positions may extend beyond fall semester.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Educational Requirements: Undergraduate or graduate students in a natural resources, biology, ecology, environmental sciences, or related field.
Preferred background: Prefer student who is at least a sophomore with an interest in becoming a biologist or related environmental professional.
