This position is located in the United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Office of National Programs, Nutrition, Food Safety and Product Quality, in Beltsville, MD.
In this position, you will serve as the National Program Leader responsible for the interdisciplinary implementation and operational planning teams charged with reviewing and updating the Agency's National Programs related to biology, nutrition.
Qualifications: Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Basic Requirements for Biological Scientist Series, 0401: Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
.Basic Requirements for Nutrition Series, 0630: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in the fields of dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science. The educational program must have been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. For dietitian positions, the curriculum must have been in accordance with the qualifying requirements established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) (formerly American Dietetic Association (ADA) prior to January 1, 2012) in effect at the time of graduation. OR Completion of a coordinated undergraduate program, internship, or other clinical component approved by AND (formerly ADA) for dietitians or nutritionists. OR Professional registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). AND In addition to meeting the basic requirements described above, applicants must also meet additional qualification requirements as stated below.
Specialized Experience:Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-15 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-14 which is directly related to the work of this position, and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience monitoring and coordinating scientific research of varied disciplines; implementing programs that improve cooperation and coordination of food and agricultural research with Federal agencies, universities, or other science and education organizations; and evaluating and recommending commitment of resources for research programs.
