Clarity HR Solutions is partnered with Parents Anonymous Inc. to find a passionate candidate to fill their National Parent and Youth Counselor. This is a hybrid position with 5 days of onsite training required.

This position can be part-time or full-time.

Full-time work: 3 days in office from 8am-4:30pm and 2 days remote from 1:30pm-10:00pm.

About the Position

Parents Anonymous® Inc. is looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and compassionate behavioral health professional with MSW, MFT, MS or MA in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work. You will be trained to deliver Parents Anonymous® Evidence-Based Programs to support diverse Parents, Children & Youth. Experience with Parents is a must as well as crisis situations.

You will be providing trauma-informed emotional support to diverse Parents, Children and Youth through calls, texts, and live chats on the National Parent & Youth Helpline and Facilitating a Free, Weekly Online Parents Anonymous Support Group. If you are passionate about Strengthening Families and care deeply about the well-being of others by supporting the empowerment journey of Diverse Parents, Children & Youth you would be a great fit for Parents Anonymous® Inc.

Parents Anonymous provides Clinical Supervision for ACSWs, AMFTs and APCCs.

Specific Job Duties

  • Foster the therapeutic process of Mutual Support with Adults and Youth to address underlying feelings through empathetic listening, affirming experiences, and engaging in self-calming and encourage meditation, mindfulness, smiling, laughing, hugging, singing, dancing, and drumming.
  • Foster the therapeutic process of Parent and Youth Leadership where Parents and Youth gain awareness, seek and implement solutions to support their empowerment journey.
  • Foster the therapeutic process of Shared Leadership® when Parents and Youth build a sense of belonging, trust and community, and affirm or create social connections with peers, school, and family by engaging in positive activities.
  • Foster the therapeutic process of Personal Growth and Change when Parents and Youth build resiliency, improve family functioning, mitigate the impact of and prevent Adverse Childhood Experiences and enhance health and mental health well-being.
  • Integrate one or more of the 16 Successful: Nurturing & Parenting Strategies and Children & Youth Development Strategies
  • Provide appropriate referrals for direct services, concrete supports, and other resources.
  • Encourage continued use of the Helpline by offering one follow up call after initial conversation and/or reminding help seeker to continue to reach out for support on the Helpline, as Asking for Help is a Sign of Strength®
  • Document accurately and completely Daily Helpline statistics to achieve the minimum standard of practice.
  • Document accurately and completely all Helpline interactions into iCarol daily including all relevant topics, all therapeutic processes and Nurturing & Parenting Strategies and Children & Youth Development Strategies discussed.
  • Immediately contact and follow all instructions from the Vice President of Clinical Services regarding suicidal ideation, child and elder abuse and neglect reporting, and other crisis situations.
  • Submit a minimum of 3 weekly, well-written Parent and Youth stories in the first person documenting the impact of the helpline interaction.
  • Participate in assigned outreach strategies to reach diverse children, parents, and Youth nationwide.
  • Maintain well-developed research-based competencies for Helpline Counselor role.
  • Utilize comprehensive training to ensure Model Fidelity and Positive Outcomes for diverse parents, children, and Youth.
  • Integrate knowledge, skills, and abilities through active participation in individual and group supervision weekly.
  • Facilitate meaningful Shared Leadership® with the National Parent and Youth Helpline Team which consists of the VP of Clinical Services, Peer Support Supervisor, Helpline Counselors, Peer Helpline Specialists, and National Parent & Youth Team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Must possess a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology or Counseling from an accredited graduate school.
  • Fully registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred and other languages spoken by Asian Pacific Islanders is a plus.
  • Must have a minimum of 1-2 years working in social services with Parents and/or Youth.
  • Must have a minimum of 1-2 years of individual or group counseling.
  • Must have well-developed computer skills.
  • Patient learner, high intelligence, passionate, open to feedback, and team player
  • Willingness to be flexible to fulfill the requirements of the position.
  • Must be culturally responsive, responsible, and able to seek assistance from supervisor when crises arise.
  • Must have a smartphone, reliable in-home internet access, and a private room with a door that can be closed where confidential, HIPPA-compliant conversations can be held with individuals.
  • Must embrace the philosophy and theory of change of Parent Anonymous® including mutual support, parent leadership, shared leadership®, and personal growth and change.
  • Attend 80 hours of Comprehensive Training on Zoom and In-Person
  • Must embrace and reflect the Mission, Vision, and Principles of Parents Anonymous® Inc.
