Job description

Florida Farm Bureau Federation is currently seeking a National Affairs Coordinatorto advocate on behalf of the organization with a focus on federal legislation and regulation.

The listed pay range is the starting salary for the position.

Reporting to theDirector of Legislative Affairs, the National Affairs Coordinatorworks closely across the Legislative Affairs, Government & Community Affairs, and Agricultural Policy divisions to implement Florida Farm Bureau Federation’s policy priorities at the federal level.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as liaison with Florida’s 30 congressional offices and staff.
  • Coordinate FFBF’s Political Action Committees, including fundraising and other political activities.
  • Responsible for supporting and organizing county legislative programs.
  • Manage assigned advisory committees, setting meeting dates and agendas, maintaining accurate minutes of the meetings, and building consensus among members to reach policy objectives.
  • Grasp agricultural-related policy initiatives, programs, and/or agency rules and communicate effectively with other staff and/or members.
  • Work with volunteers to achieve policy and legislative goals.
  • Develop, prepare, and present reports to staff, members, or others on various agricultural-related issues.
  • Deal with media through interviews and written comments.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited four-year college or university;
  • One to three years of related experience;

OR equivalent combination of education and related experience.

  • Possess sound communications skills, including both speaking and written delivery.
  • Possess necessary computer skills to compile and present data in a variety of formats.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or government regulations.
  • Ability to effectively write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from members, elected officials, and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical business problems and interpret a variety of instructions and information furnished in written, oral, or other forms.
