State of Idaho Opportunity Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Applications will be accepted through 4:59 PM MST on the posting end date. Position: The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is hiring three National Rivers and Streams Assessment Technicians based out of Boise, Idaho, for summer 2024. These positions are temporary, full-time appointments without benefits. Salary Range: $16.00 Hourly Salary + up to an additional $55/day per diem when in the field. Responsibilities: The National Rivers and Streams Assessment (https://www.epa.gov/national-aquatic-resource-surveys/nrsa) (NRSA) is a collaborative survey between the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the states that provides information on the ecological condition of the nation's Rivers and Streams and the key stressors that affect them. For summer 2024, crew members on the NRSA team will perform the following:

Survey wadeable streams and one nonwadeable site that may require a multiday rafting trip in September.

Travel throughout the state to collect quantitative stream data.

Perform qualitative habitat surveys.

Sample fish and aquatic insect populations.

Record and manage field data, field filter samples, and ship samples to labs.

Work and camp at remote locations for three or more nights per week and furnish own camping equipment.

May need to remain in field for 5+ days if traveling to a distant sampling location.

Available from mid-May through mid-September, with the end date flexible for students.

Minimum Qualifications: - Possession of a valid driver's license - Ability to work in inclement weather. - Ability to work and camp at remote locations statewide for three or more nights a week. - Incumbents must be able to walk over rough terrain while lifting/packing up to 50 pounds, to safely navigate wadeable streams in hip boots and waders, and to walk up to eight miles a day along stream banks and trails. - Needed to work mid-May - mid-September 2024 (end date flexible for students) Desired Specialty Minimum Qualification It is preferred To view full details and how to apply, please login or create a Job Seeker account
